Deep down I think most neutral fans would agree that if there was one team, pre tournament, that was most likely to “crash India’s party” it’s my Australia… not necessarily based on form tbf… but because we are the undisputed MASTERS of WC and ICC tournament cricket… and after winning The CHAMPIONSHIP in Jun there is nothing I want more than for us to create history and do “THE DOUBLE” (holding WTC n CWC at the same time)…. No, not really. He didn’t have a great tournament with the bat and was he the only option when they were looking for a new captain in 2021 after De Kock stood down? It was an opportunity missed by the Proteas who once again fall at the semi final stage. If their board decide to move on from Bavuma , SA will be looking for a new captain, a new keeper and a new opening combination.

Australia do not have a great team; they have a few individuals who are great players and one or two of them seem to stand up every game. This is not the invincible, perfect ODI Australian team of old. They are a scrappy team who find ways of winning matches consistently. Almost all of the games this tournament that have been close and hard-fought have involved Australia. And they have found ways of winning. Can they do it one more time?

Nah, they are a great team, best team I have seen and I've been watching closely since 1975. Head and Maxwell are superstars, Starc, Hazelwood and Cummins are 3 of the best OD bowlers ever and Zampa does pretty good too when it matters. Then there is the fielding...noone better than Marnus and Warner and co.

I dont think itwas thriller... It was always of ausi side from very first power play... Especially when SA captain dint go for change to spinners during power play when his pacers were getting bashed so mercilessly. I mean I was expecting a switch to spinners after 6th over more so when he got so much proven spinners that too in that very pitch. But he jus cared to bring his 3rd spinner only instead of his main spinnersespecially maharaja. I mean whats the use of bdinging just that spinner when other end is getting thashed for 20 or 15 per over. I think badhuma took some very bad decision in middle of first power play which got enhanced by bad luck of some crucial miss fielding. It was almost out of hand at the very start of 2nd powerplay when ausi side already beyond half mark of such small target chase. I mean what u gonna do with jus 100 to score in 38-39 overs. Even sppinner need some run margin to be effective. All I can say that was bad day for south africa...bad decisions..miss fields...at least two catchs were easy enough. Wrong fielding setup. U kinda following the errors rather than taking precautionary mesure to prevent them in first place.

The question is, why it had to be played on a used pitch. The answer is to normalize this behavior so when it is done in an India game there are less questions. I have to admit that I didn’t see the Aussies winning the World Cup, particularly after losing their first two matches but fair play to them with the run they’ve been on. The first 10 overs today was the best they’ve bowled all tournament, albeit in helpful overhead conditions but they will have to do something extraordinary to win on Sunday. India appear to have all bases covered but if the underdogs do turn over the favourites, that would rank as probably the greater of the accolades already achieved this year for which I have to agree is not the greatest one day Aussie team in their history.

The one thing this Australian team has is unity and mental strength. They seem to find a way when the pressure is on. This could see them lift the cup. During the Ashes they got smashed around the park, but still managed to draw the series, with the help of some poor weather. The WTC final was a one off match, and tbf, conditions favoured the Aussies more, but they still got the job done against a strong side in a crucial match. India based on talent are favourites for the WC imo, but the pressure is real. Should be an interesting contest...... hopefully!!
