I always fish with depth shading in green that shows the depth I believe the fish are at as the deepest of that range. I fish out of a kayak and I travel the outer edge of that green area. I call it riding the green highway.

For me, I like to keep parallel when I want to work a much larger area. As you said, keep my bait in the right depth for a longer period of time. I'll go perpendicular to the bank only if I'm working specific targets or skipping under flooded brush. Then it's right back to going parallel and working those edges.

It would be interesting to know exactly how many fish paralleling has accounted for over the years. I know it has sure helped me out a lot!

Beautiful day here! It is amazing to me that this year is about over. Been spending so much time trying to film and edit content to get me through the snow and cold that is soon going to be upon me.

Great topic bud. In the early 2000s I got a cool gadget from Cabelas. It was about 1/2 the size of a card deck. You'd tie a line on and lower it to the bottom then bring it in. The display shows temp. every 2 feet down, it senses water pressure to know the depth. Still have it. I really only used it for pinning down the thermocline. ...maybe a battery is due in it to see if there is a pattern to where they cruse any given day. When you swim you can often feel the temp difference with your feet.

That is great info Steve. I think this is especially true with moving baits. I have had some really good days paralleling a rocky bank with a crankbait. I just had to figure out which depth I was getting bit at then it was game over. Thanks again for the great underwater footage and information.

You are definitely right about the moving baits. I should have put that in the video, "once you find the right depth - game over."

That is a great spot to parallel! It is so fun when you get that depth dialed in and keep that lure right there.

Great content .... Paralleling the bank is usually my preferred method ..... It makes my fishing partner in the back mad !!! Haha

It is definitely tough on someone in the back. My boat deck is kind of small to have two of us up there, but it works. It is such a powerful method!

Lol. It is amazing how many times I get called Capt. I even went to a local big box home supply store to pick up a door I had ordered. Before I knew it, the intercom comes over the store and says, "To all associates who want to see Captain America, he's picking up a door in the back." I couldn't believe it.

@ Steve that’s hilarious, and for all intents and purposes you’re our Cap for sure, just landed a pretty decent bass out of the puddle next to us and I’d say its thanks to you, probably posting soon. I’m sure everyone wanted to see captain America lift that door 🎣
