Looked at the service manual available online; the needle is supposed to be at the centre (front/back) of the hole. Not saying any deviation for a vintage machine is a big deal of course! Nice video as always. Thanks. Needle centre does require adjustment of the chassis/frame. But this does not seem to be a big surgery according to the manual.

Just checked my newly acquired Nova, the needle is centralised in the hole. Love your videos. Very informative.

Hello. I am repairing this machine. It has the exploded capacitor. Will replace it with a 400 ac rated 0.1uf equivalent. But the question i have is related to the footswitch. Would it be possible to get a picture of how it looks inside? Reason: the one i have has 2 cables connected to a click switch. But the 3 rd cable is not connected to any electronics. I think it might need to be? As otherwise how can you have 2 speeds in the footswitch. Thanks for any info on this.

My Bernina Nova has a spring from the cover to the needle bar, that might be needed for zigzag function

One question, what does the electronics of this machine do? If it’s a power supply, why does this need one when older models do not? Thank you!

By chance I found the service manual of this machine, which I played with recently, and found the answer to my question - the electronic part is a sewing speed regulator. This was an interesting design decision - the introduction of an electronic module only for speed regulation, which had been done without electronics in the machines before this model for long. This then begs a question, what advantages do this bring over the older design, if not only for looking/sounding fancy and advanced? Not meant to be mean or to offend fans of bernina.
