I saw one of these just the other day at a quilt shop here in Australia. The shop had an antique sewing machine display and this machine was there. Love it.

I just love that you happen to have fabric that matched that machine. that pattern looks a lot like the wallpaper in my kitchen when I was a kid. Lol

Thank you so much foryour video. With this video I was able to lift the cover of the Singer Starlet. Before I hadn't an idea how to open. 😊

Im happy I had a broken gear on the inside repaired. Costed a lot to repair but I saved a great machine. My mom bought it 24 years ago. Now my daughter wants it.

That’s great! I have one that was handed down to me. It was my grandfathers, and my parents held onto it after he passed away when I was three. I started using it in my teens in the late 90s. I haven’t used it in 15 years, but I recently pulled it out of the basement. I’m going to clean it up, get it serviced and start using it again. My 12 year old son (who was named after my grandfather ) has asked me to teach him how to use it. 😊

I recently serviced the sister machine to the Genie...the Singer Starlet. It's essentially the free arm version of the Genie. The colour scheme is different, as are the mechanicals. The Genie is belt driven as where the Starlet is standard gear driven. It's surprising that your machine's top cover latch is still intact. They seem to fail as the metal hook tends to suffer from metal fatigue. These are great little machines, and my compadre is happy her machine is still soldiering on (it was her first new machine some time during the last century).

The starlet is not the free arm version of the genie, they are absolutely identical apart from the name, in the USA it’s the genie and everywhere else it was called the starlet. All parts are interchangeable.

Looking at reviews on the Internet, these funky compact machines (and the Mon Ami with extra stitches) are well liked by owners and good functional machines, with a sturdy metal frame (unlike the cheap plastic rubbish being made today). Very 70s.

I own both. Haven't needed the newer electronic machines.

I have the Mon Ami. I picked it up cheap as unfortunately the case has broken hinges and the button above Singer is missing. Works a treat though..😊

A chance find at an Op shop/thrift store. Very close to matching. Thanks.

I love the old SINGER both for the quality and for the aesthetics, especially the American and German 600 and 700 series, which I am in love with.

I like the 600s and 700s as well. They are very well made.

Hi I’ve just purchased a Singer Starlet (always wanted one) and have now watched both parts 1 and 2 of the service on the genie twice as I used it to try to service mine myself. I’ve run into a problem whereby my presser foot lever, when all the way down, is flush to the lifter rod and I don’t know how to correct it. It makes it difficult to lift up if that makes any sense. Any help would be gratefully received, maybe it’s supposed to be like that ? I love watching your videos by the way, just wonderful. I’ve also serviced my 99k following you 😊 Rosalind

I tried sending to your website, address doesn't work. Hello,I've just watched your replacement of a quadrant finger gear on a 760? machine and my pattern selector just moves freely on my Singer 714 the gears aren't engaging any longer. It appears the back plastic gear is smooth and not engaging the front gear's teeth any longer.Where can I get the two plastic gears for my Singer Model 714 and do you have a video on how to replace them for my Singer model? It doesn't seem that my reverse is working either, is that gear driven too?I thank you for the informative, instructional videos you are posting online, they are very helpful. I'd like to be able to use all the stitches on my machine, it only sews a straight stitch.I'm going to begin with oiling all the parts well.I'd appreciate any help you can give to me.
