I am 32, and I started losing my hair at 16. I want to say a few things about it. Realizing I was balding as a teenager was hard. It felt so unfair, and I felt I was the only one. It fucked up my self-esteem for a long time. I tried treatments such as Minoxidil, but they didn't seem to do anything. I browsed the internet for different kind of solutions, but it was soon clear, that the best any treatment could provide was slowing down the process, usually not even stopping it. Over a period of several years I tried to cover my hear with bandanas or caps, refusing to shave my long blond hair. I was numbed by the fact, that while we can medicate and treat all kinds of illnesses, balding isn't curable. At the age of 20 finally shaved my head completely. After that I found such a relief, that it felt like almost getting my hair back: I didn't have to worry about it anymore. I coud be myself. I didn't have to have a near panic-attack, if I had to go somewhere where I couldn't wear a hat. Now, at the age of 32, I love how I look. I recently reached the point where I'd been balding for over half my life, and I realized, I haven't been thinking about it for ages. As a man, bald as an egg, and as a soon-to-be doctor, I would strongly suggest: don't go down the path of trying to flee balding. It won't work, and you'll be so disappointed in the end. If you feel balding affects your self-esteem, seek help, because that can be arranged. Embrace yourself, bald or not. It is a matter of you own mind, not body. May your future be as bright as the reflection from the top of my head on a sunnny day.

this is a great comment. i'm 23 and have been experiencing hair loss in my early twenties and it's completely killing my confidence. i spent one year shaving my head completely, which helped a bit, but people love to comment on it and i'm constantly reminded that i "look like a 40 year old" and "need a trip to turkey". i've returned to growing the hair on my head, keeping it short and styled but the comments continue. i wish there was more space in society for younger balding men without it being the spectacle that people make it out to be.

I'm definitely balding since I was 24 (I'm 28) and I'm delaying the inevitable: shaving my head. It 100% looks better than trying to hide it. I tried Minoxidyl but I was kind of allergic to it, and I will not take any oral medication like finasteride for aesthetic reasons. Be bald, be bold

Guys, don't lose hope. As someone who has the most aggressive hair loss (my two brothers were Norwood 7 by 28-30), not to mention aggressive retrograde alopecia as well, all my cousins in both families are Norwood 6-7 by 30. I am 32 and have managed to keep 90% of my hair. Unfortunately I experienced bad side effects from finasteride and had to quit. However, using minoxidil + microneedling saved my hair. I strongly believe that DHT is related to blood circulation, which in turn due to low supply leads to hair loss. I used a derma roller + minoxidil and kept losing hair. Once I switched to a high-quality pen, within two months my shedding stopped and my hair started to get thicker by month 4 with a lot of new growth. I have followed this protocol for 5 years and haven't lost ground. It's possible-just be consistent. use a good Pen and do NOT skip sessions. If it worked for me, it should work for EVERYONE.

Minoxidil may not be enough. You might need to look at DHT blockers for women. I recommend topical DHT blockers like finasteride (NOT Oral), but see a doctor to recommend safe options. If you have PCOS, you likely have more DHT in your scalp.

Acute nutrient deficiencies can also cause hair loss, independent of DHT levels and DHT sensitivity. Certain vitamins and minerals and other nutrients are vital for healthy hair, including iron, magnesium, zinc, calcium, vitamin B12, vitamin C, omega 3, adequate protein and more. Deficiencies in any of those can exacerbate hair loss, but none of them are likely to "cure" DHT related hair loss. There are also foods high in natural DHT blockers, like lycopene in tomatoes and papaya, or curcuminoids in turmeric, and certain fatty acids, such as oleic acid found in olive oil, etc, though none of those are anywhere near as potent as actual DHT blocking drugs. High blood sugar from a poorly balanced diet and/or lack of exercise may also affect hair health and certain negative lifestyle habits, like smoking may negatively affect hair health. Stopping smoking may reverse some of the damage. Walking (and exercise in general) may also increase cardiovascular health, which may increase blood flow and oxygen levels to the scalp, reducing the effect of DHT, but again unlikely to "cure" DHT related hair loss by itself. Sleep hygiene and stress management are also important. None of these are likely to be an effective cure-all, but all of these in combination, however, may have a noticeable effect on hair density and thickness, and in a best case scenario, may visibly reverse hair loss. Personally I noticed new hair growth after supplementing iron, zinc and B12 for unrelated health reasons, and noticed more new hair growth after switching to a much healthier and much better balanced whole food diet. I also exercise more and started doing relatively intense daily scalp massages to reduce scalp tension and increase blood flow, with some success. My receding hairline has been slowly reversing, and my hair is thicker and denser. Fingers crossed that the trend continues.

Could you do a video about teeth. What is the structure, why they decay, how can they be repaired, gum disease, bone loss, bone grafting and how that works. Thanks. I have been having dental issues the last two years. It started with a large cyst above a front tooth. Now I lost a neighboring tooth. Both areas have been bone grafted for implants. Until then, I have one front tooth and spaces on each side of that. Talking and eating are affected along with the physical looks, causing even more depression than I already suffer with.

I have many teeth issues too, i'm sorry that you're having to deal with this painful & potentially embarrassing, probably confidence knocking also. I'm very into DNA for both health & genealogical research. I had a full genome sequence taken with Nebula Genomics, due to several other painful & debilitating incurable medical diagnoses. For all researched diseases & medical issues, it gives you a percentile (like growth charts for children), so basically they provide you with a likelihood of scientifically researched problems linked with specific genes. I was shocked to have found out that I am in the 100th percentile for Dental Carries [2019 study; Dmitry Shungin, et al.], where they identified 47 genetic variants that are contibuted to Dental Carries... This is, of course, not the only genetic study concerning oral health. For me, this 100th percentile makes a lot of sense, as i've not had much luck with my teeth all throughout my life, so shouldn't have been so surprised, but it was interesting.

From what I remember, body's cannabinoid receptors also play a role in the complex mechanism of hair loss & regrowth. But it's harder to get results from natural extracts as they have mixtures of chemicals that simultaneously agonize and antagonize CB1 and CB2. Also, I remember seeing an article where topical 3% peppermint oil was applied on the shaved backs of mice and it did wonders when visually compared with Minoxidil, over just 1 month period. I just googled it again and seems as though others noted this particular study too, as I found the image inserted on a different website.

The best and far cheapest "cure" for hair loss not mentioned is acceptance. Society and videos like this tells us that baldness is ugly and wrong. Just find your bald style and be happy with the way you look. Being confident about it makes you way more attractive than any attempt to restore hair will. And if people don't accept you or try to shame you for it, you are not the problem, they are.

it's important to say that the hair loss comes with a lot more than what meets the eye for a person who is lossing the hair, things like depression, low self esteem, and a lot of other psichological stressfull isuues that people in general just dont take in acquaintance, this is a really serious problem that should not be take lightly.

I'm in my 50's (female), and I have bone marrow cancer. I'm on chemo pills that aren't supposed to cause hair loss. I've been on them for 6 years now. Just within the last few months, my hair has been falling out in the handful. It's extremely embarrassing... Leaving hair on everything I encounter. And now you can actually see the thinning on the front of my scalp. It's hard on the self-esteem even at my age and with my health issues. My gp and oncologist both just sort of shrug and act like it's normal for my age/health. Is it though? I'm so sad.

Wasn't expecting to see a video about this subject on this channel. I visited a trichologist a week ago, she confirmed my suspicions about the right temple area. I've been losing some hair (not much, but noticeable for me) after covid. Also, my head skin isn't in the perfect state, but fine enough. So now I have to use a blade roller (she said it's for blood flow, like forcing body to heal small traumas), a special shampoo, pantovigar (pantogar, same thing), special drops (selencin minexaga) and vitamins during the next 3 months. Reply in 3 months so I can share my results with you, people.

Could have mentioned another rather surprising thing about the arrector pili muscle: its absence has been implicated as a causal factor in androgenic alopecia! In 2014 Torkamani et al demonstrated that in AGA the APM is gradually replaced by fat, and eventually detaches from the follicle. This detatchment is supposedly the line in the sand beyond which irreversible miniaturisation occurs. This is sort of where the story ends (for now), although in 2020 it was shown that the neurons innervating the APM go on to form "synapse-like connections" with the hair follicle stem cell supply. The implication being that every part of the hair follicle anatomy is crucial to proper hair growth.

Thanks for the video. I'm curious about two things: 1. How trichotillomania affects hair growth and regrowth. Even as I was watching the video, I was pulling at my facial hair. I've been pulling different hair types for ~20 years, starting as an early teen. It started with eyelashes, knuckle hairs, and arm hairs. Now, it is almost entirely beard hairs, standout hairs (thick, dark, gray, long, isolated) on the body, from moles, on my ears, eyebrows, and on and in the nose. 2. The upper halves of my thighs (where the pant pockets would be) are bare, while the rest of my legs are hairy. I assume this is from a lifestyle influence where I almost always had my hands in my pockets for many years.

Ideal treatments: 1, finasteride to prevent further loss (mandatory if you value keeping hair),topical minoxidil along with microneedling to regrow some hair, 2% ketoconazole shampoo further blocks dht topically. Biggest thing, research! Some of these (mostly finasteride) can have some bad side effects most of which can be caught ahead of time with bloodwork. There are many other chemicals being researched that you can try but that’s up to you.

My dad died with a full head of thick hair; my oldest brother is essentially bald; I have most of my hair with some loss at the temples and some overall thinning; my younger brother has a full head of *very* thick hair (we are all over 60 years old). Go figure. Not counting genetics, I think the main way to keep your hair is a reasonable diet and _good blood flow_ to the the scalp and hair follicles. Do this with exercise, and keeping your scalp warm (wear a warm cap when you can), this will improve blood circulation. Most likely these super-expensive laser/LED caps (like the one in this video commercial) do only this: keep the scalp skin warm, improving blood flow. Save your money, buy a warm knit cap that covers your head and keeps it warm, like a ski cap. $10 - $20. And I bet it will work just as well. Also, hot showers. I take the hottest shower I can tolerate every day and wash my hair every day (the working of the shampoo through the hair massages the scalp and that also helps blood flow), and my hair was thick and luscious until l almost died from covid, at which time my hair began to fall out in clumps and I'd estimate that I lost about 1/3 of my hair overall while I was sick. I'd also estimate that in the 3 years since then, I've regrown about 1/2 of what I had lost, and my hair is drier and courser than it was before covid. My hairdresser told me that many of her clients told her of noticeable hair loss during covid; better than dying, I suppose...

good point about blaming your father for hair loss my uncle (dad's brother) doesnt have excessive baldness and his son now in his 40s hasnt experienced a notable decrease whereas i have. my dad has got ichtyosis thats definitely a contributing factor, i dont have it myself or its not expressed at least, wouldnt know, but his hair lost pigmentation early while his brothers' hasnt, mine losing pigmentation already while my cousin who's older isnt experiencing that. i didnt have any issues up until i turned 31 and decided its time to bulk up and started taking cheap whey protein.. that within 3 months 'helped' me shed a lot of hair which made me read up more on the topic turned out milk based protein does something forgot what exactly but when i started dht reducing supplements like pumpkin seed oil and saw palmetto hair magically stopped falling but it didnt start properly growing back up until i started vitamin supplementation too so a good diet definitely a key factor in hair growth. been also thinking if lactose intolerance is somehow connected to hair loss, i myself got a mild case of it and when i overdosed basically i started losing hair. milk consumption has been cited as food that worsens skin conditions like ichtyosis maybe there is something in there, searched for some papers regarding that but found nothing substantial.

I have two sons in their 30s. One (34) has a full head of great hair. My 31 year old son has been going bald for about 4 years. Their father is balding. MY father is bald, always has been since HE was in his late twenties. All that said, my son with a full head of hair has a very light beard, and not a hairy guy in general (much like my maternal grandfather). My balding son not only has a beard that would make the Duck Dynasty guys jealous, but his body is covered in hair! This I know because he is autistic and I am his caregiver (bathe, shampoo and SHAVE him!). So why is there a connection to heavy whiskers and body hair and male pattern baldness? Testosterone?? He's almost an anomaly in our family, since nobody on my side or his father's side had hairy bodies. He also has terrible scalp issues; ie eczema and dandruff. I've tried everything to clear his scalp up. Anyway, what's the connection of baldness and excess body hair and beard? Thank you, LOVE the channel so much!!!

My brother is in the Air Force 28. Looks like a Norwood 3 already or worse already. I’m 32, I cannot tell, probably because of my long hair, if it I’m receding or not. It’s possible, though. Our father is bald.

I'm only 24 experiencing hair loss, I jumped straight to finasteride and it really did its job. Unfortunately that came at the cost of my libido, so I've resorted to minoxidil and derma rolling instead but the results are not as impressive.

When I was younger I used minoxidil but I actually got side effects with blood pressure and facial puffiness.
