So CFII in the states is a flight instructor who can teach instrument ratings. Is there another acronym for an instructor who can train other instructors (hopefully not CFIT lol)? I'm a flight instructor in Canada and we refer to everyone as an "instructor" but have 4 different classes, class 4 being the least experienced (newbie instructor) and class 1 being the most experienced - only class 1's can train new class 4's. The term CFI here means chief flight instructor (i.e. my boss), every flight school has one, and at most schools where there are multiple instructors the CFI is usually a class 1 or occasionally 2.
@davidcostello6372 жыл бұрын
Any CFI can give dual for the purpose of practicing/training for the initial checkride. A CFI who has held the ticket for at least 2 years and has given at least 200 hours of dual can endorse a candidate for the checkride.

Great video, couple of questions on circle to land. Is the 1.3 miles from the center of the airport? When can you descend below the minimum on circle to land? Always fun watching your videos.
@LewDixAviation4 жыл бұрын
It’s measured from the “runway end” as stated in the AIM. If there is an “inverted C” or “negative C” published on the chart it means the radius can change based MDA which “accounts for TAS increase with an increase in altitude”. (AIM). In Florida, altitude isn’t an issue because it’s basically sea level so Cat A is 1.3, B is 1.5, C 1.7 and so on.

@LewDixAviation4 жыл бұрын
Well, being a great student as I showed in the video, I’ll weigh in haha.. I prefer a fairly constant power setting on approach and control glideslope with pitch. I find changing power constantly to maintain glideslope causes instability. Just one student’s take on it 😌
