Another European watching from Scotland 🏴. Great videos, you have a very nice temperament on camera of getting information across. And I was moved with your messages of condolence to the poor man who lost his dear wife to cancer at 46yrs. My dear wife similarly passed away 2yrs ago at 60 and I miss her dearly. Watching these videos takes me back to our days of sailing around the islands of the west of Scotland. Good luck to you and may you always get favourable winds for your adventures.⛵️

A teak plank over the area with cut outs for the displays and use the holes already in the glass for the cables would of been another option and would of left a nice piece of oiled teak "bling" for mounting the required beer holder!

Another inspirational video as we'll tackle a similar instrument refit, cut and fill, this spring (2021)!

Kitchen foil, clean down the area, cut and wet your glass ON a square of foil, smooth the foil onto your repair area, no brush required, once cured you can sand off the foil if you feel it's needed.

Great vids. I would have made a stainless panel to cover the old hole and be a back drop for the new electronics. Maybe add a clock or something else on the right side.

You can paint the area arount the instruments with a matching gelcoat, just brush it on and sand it smooth afterwards. Remember to add wax (paraffin) to the mix so you get a hard topcoat.

Hey Josh, love the name. I’ve been a subscriber now for a while but just noticed as you added the graphics to your boat that your from Newport Beach. I’m from Dana Point and my brother lives in Newport on the peninsula. I learned to sail at Newport Dunes when I was a kid many many years ago. I’m leaving this week for Corpus Christi to move aboard my newest boat, a Mason 43’. Hoping to begin my solo trip around the world next spring. Keep up the good work. Wish I had time to come and visit you but maybe our paths will cross someday.

That's awesome! The boat is actually in Annapolis right now but going to sail her to Newport Beach this winter. I was in Newport Beach all this week (my fiancé lives there). Heading back to Annapolis now (I'm literally at the airport) to prep the boat for the big voyage. Thanks for the comment! I've sailed out of Dana Point once. It's a cool spot.

Liked before watching as always. Great video! Did you fill in the last hole with body filler or something similar or is it hollow with a top layer of fibreglass now? Looked like a great repair - not a lot of people take the time to do things right.
@JoshPostVlogs6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I put about 8 layers of fiberglass in the hole (about 2 layers per day over the course of a week). I then filled the rest of the hole with epoxy filler (colloidal silica).
@maacseffort6 жыл бұрын
Josh Post Cool. Wasn’t sure if that was doable with the fibreglass mesh being so thin, but that’s awesome. Look forward to the “maiden voyage”!
@JoshPostVlogs6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the fiberglass is thin. I probably filled about 1/3 of the hole with fiberglass and the rest with the filler. If I did it again, I'd use a fairing filler with the epoxy. The colloidal silica is too tough to sand down.

Newport Beach is a hint? Lol Should have considered Channel Islands or Ventura area where the winds and Islands are a great place for a channel.
@JoshPostVlogs6 жыл бұрын
Yes. My fiancé lives in Newport Beach. That's where I'm headed. I hope to make trips to Channel Islands and Catalina on the boat.
@maritimetees23156 жыл бұрын
That is awesome. I sail in the Channel Islands area. Out quite a bit. 2 to 3 times a week. Newport is beautiful except the winds stink, very light. At least your out where you can sail year around. My good friend is a Navy Commander and a sailor. Tuned him into your channel. He should be stationed at Port Hueneme until he retires soon.
