Appreciate you allowing us to watch! No one realizes unless you've done it how tough that training is. It's going to make you a far better pilot because of all the hard work.

Kevin is a great student. Fly the plane and learn as you go. Mindy has a calming technique which helps to lower the stress level "a bit". Looking forward to the next one. Carpe Diem! !! !!!

Great video. Although I loved the precision flying during my instrument training, I found it all a bit overwhelming. But then one day it all came together and with a bit more polishing, I was ready for my checkride. You'll do great Kevin. And Mindy, love your teaching style. Thanks for posting.

I was the exact same way!!! Luckily his ATC background and tons of flying with me over the years helps. But I was just like you. Total nonsense for me until it finally clicked 😅 THANK YOU!

I really like how you explained to your husband how to land. Watch the numbers, get car height, then look down the runway. I've been going over that in my head so much. I was told to look down the runway when I cross the threshold. It didn't work that well for me. You confirmed what I needed to do is look at the runway until I round out then look down the runway. Works very good for me. Thank you!!
@SchmiiindyАй бұрын
Yesss exactly!! So many students don’t realize when to make that transition of your eyes from the numbers to end of runway. Once you nail that, the landings become so much better and consistent

The one thing that makes this amazing is we will have another ATC controller that’s also a pilot that knows what is going on in the cockpit when he is talking with pilots, he’ll be able to visualize the potential problems the pilot may have while in IMC. Thanks for sharing, your videos are so informative. 😊❤

Hi Guys. I have a 1956 Model. Would you mind sharing your leaning process. My method is not to use Lean assist bc of concerns re "red Box' CHT Temps, so with this old engine's poor carby distribution I simply lean to "Rich of Rough" and ensure CHTs stay below 400 but preferably below 360F. I also pull the throttle out to crack the butterfly and add a touch of carb heat to atomise the fuel. (Anyway I get a flow of about 48litres/hr at 6000'). Would love your comments. Thank you

Just a question - why are you telling him how to land (right rudder - keep it up, keep it up), when I assume he's a private pilot working on an instrument rating
@SchmiiindyАй бұрын
He had been having trouble getting consistent smooth landings and asked me to help him get to the next level of butter landings!!
@kmg501Ай бұрын
That is a really nice looking plane, how come you don't use ratchet straps? Those would seem to be faster and easier than rope.
@SchmiiindyАй бұрын
Those are the ropes that the place we stayed over night had already tied into the ground. Although they match, they were surprisingly not my ropes 😁

I wonder how those foggles work. How do they obscure the outside world and not the display instruments?
@SchmiiindyАй бұрын
That’s correct!
@kmg501Ай бұрын
@@Schmiiindy Yes but how do they do that, lol. 😛 It seems like they would obscure everything, not just the outside world.
@gorgly123Ай бұрын
There is an area on the foggles that is clear that you can see through and see the instruments.
@kmg501Ай бұрын
@@gorgly123 Ahh thank you. Apparently the clear area doesn't present well on video.
