These Insul-Hold insulation hangers work far better than I would have ever imagined! Insulating this woodshop was one of the biggest worries I had when I started this post frame woodshop, but now there are no worries about insulation whatsoever! If you are doing any insulating of open areas that are wider than your batts, this is the solution! Insul-Hold Insulation Hanging Strips - amzn.to/3evnmKq

I always see people putting in studs in their entire interior, and have always thought it was a huge waste of material! These things look like an awesome way to insulate big openings like that!

I agree! Less wood and better insulation - a win/win! 😊

Hi Mojoe Your going to have that barn warm with insulation won't need much heat
@PlanetMojo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Patty! That is my hope! I think the cost of heating is going to go through the roof this year, and I would like to have it comfortable out there! 😊

It’s the technical jargon that impresses me…. especially, “the pokey, stabby bits”🐝🤗❤️
@PlanetMojo2 жыл бұрын
If I wanted to show off, I could have installed the pokey stabby thingies with and oversized whatchamacallit. That's how the pros do it 😉

I could use those strips in my shed! It would be nice to work in comfort next winter!

I am looking forward to that myself! 🔥🔥

As someone who has never done insulation, but wants to save 6k based on what we were quoted 😬, I can't thank you enough for this video. I've been watching a lot of videos on insulating post frames, and this was by far the most helpful!
@PlanetMojo Жыл бұрын
Thank you MBS! Our last step in the insulation is to blow-in insulation above the insulation in the ceiling, but I can tell you, it was 94℉ out yesterday and it was cool in the shop. The ceiling and partition wall were insulated differently so you may want to check out those videos as well. Good luck!

Smart move on insulating behind the columns, I loved your calculations on that. FYI the ads have been more oriented to homesteading lately on your vids. Was glad to see you wearing gloves handling that fiberglass. You're right those strips hold that stuff up great, nice job!

I'd hate to fall up against them!

I keep thinking of that myself! They are not real sharp, but you could put an eye out with those things! 👀

Hi Mojo, neat job, good thinking putting the 8 inch strips of insulation behind the posts bringing the R value up to spec, great video. BTW will the finished wall be tin?
@PlanetMojo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Larry! Originally we had thought of using tin for the entire interior as it was relatively inexpensive, easy to install, durable, and has nice reflective qualities - but... the price of the liner tin went through the roof! The premium interior wall in a woodshop is plywood, and right now plywood is the same price as tin, so we are going with plywood on the lower walls (up to 8'). We will be using tin for the 4' above the ply, and the entire ceiling, and we will paint the plywood high reflective white. The front part of the building will be very different, but you'll see all of that very shortly! 😊

Yes sir when are you going to run your wiring and receptacles
@PlanetMojo Жыл бұрын
The wiring will be run in metal conduit on the face of the plywood walls. I will be starting on the walls soon as I am nearly done with the metal ceiling.

I always hated insulating. When it came time to insulate our house when we built, I pawned it off to my kids. Besides they fit better in the attic than I did.
@PlanetMojo2 жыл бұрын
I wish I could get the kids to come and insulate! I hate it as well. To do it right takes forever. I keep thinking of the low energy bills to keep me going 😉

You don't need to bend them more than 45 degrees it hangs on to it how would you hang dry wall or what ever
@PlanetMojoКүн бұрын
The manufacturer recommends 90 degrees (and it would be harder to align batts at 45), and you attach interior panels to interior girts.

Not sure why you leave out whether you are going to sheetrock. That type of insulation must be covered with sheetrock. And if you did mention it I missed it, I skip around a lot.
@PlanetMojo Жыл бұрын
It's going to be covered.

Right on with R1 per inch for wood, the opaque section of the wall, windows also kill the R value, maximum 3-7 R and cavity is space between the studs. Rigid foam is R5 per inch. Adding as much rigid foam to the back of those "studs" is great for also thermal bridging...well done! Steve Baczek also teaches about total R value of a whole wall with a 20% is opaque, 20% are windows and 60% are cavity sections. Good job! 👍☺🇨🇦🛠🔨🪜
