I have begun installing the ceiling since this video was made, and the laser index line was invaluable!!! I only have one pane up as of this writing, but so far it's going as smooth as silk! I don't think they make the exact model anymore, but it looks like this one is a good alternative: Johnson Laser Level - amzn.to/3idhn2h Here are some woodshop build links... 3M All Weather Flashing Tape - amzn.to/3ICBX4P Huber ZIP System Liquid-Flash - amzn.to/31OtCtN Seville Classics Commercial-Grade 5-Tier 60" W x 24" D - amzn.to/3qgjrXJ 5000 Lumen Temporary LED Work Light - amzn.to/3eslZfu Heavy Duty 3-Prong Wireless Remote - amzn.to/3EnPWYN Powermatic Model 60C 8-Inch 2 HP 1-Phase Jointer - amzn.to/3mvPq4M Jet Contractors Saw - amzn.to/3mAAQJs Insul-Hold - amzn.to/3evnmKq 1" Garage Door Chain Hoist - amzn.to/3rn11VF 1" 4:1 Open Garage Door Chain Hoist - amzn.to/3uldvQA 1" 3:1 Open Garage Door Chain Hoist - amzn.to/3IVxXf0 1.25" Garage Door Chain Hoist - amzn.to/32R3vmS Ambient Weather WS-2902C WiFi Smart Weather Station - amzn.to/3GzRdNp Brownell Oxpho-Blue Professional Grade Cold Blue - amzn.to/3BfKiYO Evapo-Rust - amzn.to/3gJQEq4 Xcluder Rodent Control Fill - amzn.to/3oVsH3x Great Stuff Pestblock With Smart Dispenser - amzn.to/3HfI2SG 5FT Power Twist V-Belt 1/2-Inch x 5 Feet A Type - amzn.to/3LTQQkF Aluminum 5 Slot A Type V-Shaped Pagoda Pulley 5 Step Pulley - amzn.to/33GTclJ Wixey Remote Planer Readout With Fractions - 300mm (12") - amzn.to/3scJQro TamBee Hidden Door Hinge - amzn.to/3tpstTE Yosoo Latch Lock - amzn.to/35Rh7ji Spring Load Bolt Latch - amzn.to/3hF8n2c Milwaukee 3/8" Crown Stapler (tool only)- amzn.to/3HKbtgb Milwaukee 3/8" Crown Stapler (complete)- amzn.to/3igDDoz 1000 Stainless Steel T50 Staples - amzn.to/3toLUgM MPOWER Triple Diamond Sharpening Whetstone - amzn.to/3ClrZ52 Rockwell Wood & Nail End Cut - amzn.to/3tfOQMz Pioneer Diamante Series Ductless Mini-Split (9k) - amzn.to/3twjXnb Pioneer Diamante Series Ductless Mini-Split (24k) - amzn.to/3D0Yvtw Nylog Gasket/Thread Sealant - amzn.to/3IyHCaT Mounting Bracket for Ductless Mini Split - amzn.to/3L7F8C0 Vacuum Pump and R134a Manifold Gauge Set - amzn.to/3qryKNM CopperCoat Green Wood Preservative - amzn.to/3cqxVBb

Hey, @planetmojo where did you purchase your F&J molding? Can't seem to find it at the big box stores. Looking to do something similar. Thanks!

Hi Mojo, great video again, I'm not surprised you were whacked out with being under the weather and having to figure so much out, great job, and I take my hat off to you sir.

Thanks Larry! If I remember correctly, this was the last day I worked before taking off two days for a cold (I worked on videos indoors actually 😉). The constant up and down a ladder out in the cold would likely have worn me down and extended the cold and I didn't want that! All better now though, and the videos of the tin and insulation going in will be out soon! 😊

That laser indexing line is a great idea! I have a very nice laser, and have been neglecting it! 😮

Thanks SH! I was going to snap a chalk line, but that may have been sloppy and would have been difficult to do. I'm really glad I went this rout!

Awesome info. Do you have the dimensions of your F and J trim?
@PlanetMojoАй бұрын
Not off hand, but it's around 1" x 2 1/2"

Very helpful. I guess i bought the wrong stuff for my ceiling…bought only j channel for the ends of the panels. So do i need j for the sides as well?
@PlanetMojo Жыл бұрын
If you have tin on both the ceiling and side wall, then F & J is the way to go! You can use two f-cannels, but it's twice as much work, and more expensive. Some big box stores may not sell F & J though. I got mine from the Amish. Good luck!

@@PlanetMojo ya, i got my steel also from an Amish guy down the road , im gonna call him on that F &J…im sure he has it, hopefully in stock. God bless!

@@flintknappingtools I checked, and they do sell the F & J at Menards, but it will be cheaper from the Amish. Good luck!

I'm confused about how you created your index line. In your opening comment you say, "I start by measuring out *a bit more* than the width of the ceiling panels. . . and marked the laser on each joist...This gave me the index line that I will align the panels to..." Seems like that approach would leave a gap at the top girt on the end wall "a bit more than the width of the ceiling panels" -- except where the end wall/top girt bowed into the barn. I'm thinking that the way you should create the final index line is to first create a temporary index line using your approach, take measurements on each joist to find joist that has the shortest distance between the index line and the top girt. On that *reference joist*, measure and mark the exact width of a panel plus a smidge (1/4"?). Then using a big square (e.g., a drywall square), mark adjacent joists based on the mark on the reference joist. Those marks become your final index line. This way, the final index line isn't established based solely on the top girt, but rather is also determined as being perpendicular to the joists -- so the panels are properly aligned when you reach the opposite end wall. And I think it eliminates the need to trim the width of any of the panels in the first row of panels. If you have time, I'd like to hear what you think. Thanks.
