What a quality job that is. Cutting in is superb! I couldn't get the skirting that good in a million years. I've also struggled with fibreliner. As you say the surface furrs up when sanding the joins. I've also found it doesn't soak up the paint properly too. I've had little knocks to the surface and the paint comes off in flakes due to the flex in the thermal liner. Perhaps it's the quick dry emulsion that's not allowing it time to be absorbed into the fibres.

Thank you.. yes to many issues with it. My jobs work like clockwork usually.. but some of these new materiels are not worth the money and the issues they cause. Never had problems in the past and now it seams like more problems than ever. Sticking to old school methods with no problems.. odd good paint that has come out like Zinsser B.I.N and some water based satin.

@@PaintingandDecorating apparently a coat of Zinnser Gardz will seal the fibres, then fill and sand the whole wall. Not a quick process!

for painting you can get fibreliner smooth but i just use the ordinary stuff you used and give a quick sand of the first coat with a drywall sander and you get good results

Never had any issues with Fibreliner personally. It does Fur up but usually fly over it with 240 grit on the mirka after first coat and it's so smooth. If you are hand sanding then definitely get the smooth in future if painting. Think your issue with filling showing etc is more likely to do with the shit paint than the wallpaper.

I've used that Fibreliner in a few spots to cover really rough walls. I fine filled the joints after and they were OK, but you're right about the surface being a bit rough.

Good job mate as per just got a problem on one of my jobs a problem that has happened before but just want some piece of mind. I have been painting a staircase extension. New plastered ceiling and walls. Mist coated it as per but the customer wanted vinyl silk. The walls are fine but the ceiling has got small bubbles on it. I thought it was to do with the heat because they took the radiator out which is the only source of heat. The filler took a while to dry also which sort of backs up my claim. I was hopeing they would fry out as I jumped on another job and was away for four days but I’ve came back there still there. It’s only the ceiling the walls are fine. I’m going to stick my heater back in all day and see if they fry back but any chance you could give me piece of mind? Like I said it was new plaster so nothing to do with paint defect and the ceiling was prepped properly. It has happened before but in an old building so just put that down to moisture
@PaintingandDecorating2 жыл бұрын
Thank you... That's a difficult one... does not sound like a drying issue through lack of heat. It may be because its going on a mist coat and drying to fast on the ceiling creating trapped air which makes bubbles.. I would sand it and re coat.. don't think they will dry back.. thanks

Hi, did you buy the wallrock smooth? I buy that particular one and have no issues. I find it better than lining paper. Two coats of Tikkurila optiva 5 or Armstead durable Matt , good results. Bin that DIY paint mate. Get Tikkurila , Dulux or Armstead.

I have just had two rolls of the KV600 insulation delivered and also the fibreliner to be put up next week. Now then... do I take a hit for £40 and not use the fibreliner and use normal lining paper ? 🤔 Yes, I shall be painting it.
@PaintingandDecorating2 жыл бұрын
I would use normal lining paper with ready mixed extra strong paste.. especially if you're just painting. Never known a lining to be so difficult to fill and paint... 3 coats and it does not look as good as normal lining paper that has only had two coats.. thanks

How's it going? I've used kv600 in all my rooms for the ceilings and outside walls, and I can now hear my home. I'm so happy I discovered it. I filled and painted straight on to it, and even papered some walls without issue. If I needed to, I'd use it again.
@en53kff2 жыл бұрын
@@zeldagoblin I've used KV600 in one room so far and lined it with ordinary lining paper. I didn't do the ceiling with it, just the walls. Painted it with emulsion and it's looking good. No real issues. I can appreciate what others have said about how quickly the room feels warm once the heating is on. In time I am going to use it on my other rooms, on the outer walls. It is quite an expensive outlay initially but I'm sure it will pay dividends in the long run, especially as heating costs soar. Given the choice I would use it again. 👍🏻. 😊
