Top work! I want to paint matt emulsion over what I think may be silk paint (it has a shine to it), any tips?
@PaintingandDecorating2 жыл бұрын
Always wipe down and flat surface sand... then paint. Matt goes over silk no problem... apart from any surface contamination. Thanks

That looks great and I am jealous of that ceiling! Just done mine with zinsser ceiling pro. Still looks so patchy after 3 coats! What did you use on that ceiling?
@AndrewMorgan666 Жыл бұрын
What type of brush do you use for cutting your emulsion in, stiff or soft?
@TheOlzee Жыл бұрын
Couple of questions mate. Could you have caulked down the doorframes and top of skirts rather than using the filler? And did you have to somehow buy the right colour match for the staining? Great vid, they make me think!
@toria-j2 жыл бұрын
Beautiful. You've just given me some brilliant ideas for my place too. May I ask what the stain you're using is please? Need to protect some similar woodwork. Thanks.

Swinging a 18 inch roller about all day takes it out of you eventually . I’m personally happy using a 9 and half inch all day and not going home knackered !
@NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot2 жыл бұрын
Biggest I generally go is 12 inch, unless you’re working on a dead flat wall, you end up with sausages and misses everywhere

Just out of interest how much you charging a day ,I'm a fellow decorator and finding it hard to find decent customers who pay the standard £120 a day
@PaintingandDecorating2 жыл бұрын
It's very difficult... you can't win. What suites one does not suit the next. So I just make a living never going to be rich... but you are your own boss and lots of satisfaction. I always estimate that way everyone knows where they stand.. If you lose out its your own fault.. everyone thinks its easy. Does not matter what you charge if your not quick and great quality you will lose. Thanks
@justinparkman35852 жыл бұрын
Do an estimate I wouldn't want anymore doing day rate I think customers think your going to string it out I always do an estimate.
@jackwardley36266 ай бұрын
mate £120 a day is far to low £200-300 a day really subs who work for firms get £120 a day so if your sole trader running to quote and estimate buying all your own tools materials fuel paying for advertising liability insurance etc you need that extra other wise you will go broke

A room this size,with very little furniture & your using a 9" roller on the walls🤔
@PaintingandDecorating Жыл бұрын
Oh yes certainly why use anything else, any bigger and they can skip parts on uneven walls. Also more weight and more stress on your arms. Have heard about people using big rollers and having sore arms and actually having to change job. They thought they were working fast till the repetitive strain kicked in, and had to change jobs. Thanks
