About Fjällräven
The Arctic fox is an inquisitive little predator with impressive survival skills that fascinated our founder, Åke Nordin, so much that he named his outdoor company with its Swedish name - Fjällräven. Since 1960, we have created functional, durable and timeless equipment that aim to make any outdoor experience great and nature accessible to all.

Wool can be air blasted for extra loft, so it’s warmth to weight and pack ability can be enhanced. More wool and less plastic is major especially since it’s compostable. The hydrophilic nature of wool as mentioned is another major factor. Not only does wool regulate temperature superbly, it’s wicking, absorption, and breathability keeps the microclimate just right. It will be interesting to see how it will eventually be used more as active insulation.

I love wool and wear it a lot. For me the only reason to choose down over wool is it’s pack ability. Great that you are using “left over” wool and giving it value this way. I’m very interested to see how Fjällräven develops new products with this beautiful material.

As others have said in the comments, more wool. Clothing of every type for every season used to be made of wool. I would like to see that happen again. Also linen. Light jackets, walking trousers, as a lining for wool insolation. So many uses. It can also be waxed. Me and many others are really trying to reduce the amount of synthetic materials in our wardrobes. Fjällräven's approach to outdoor gear really lends itself to doing this which I really admire. If you had a larger synthetic free range I would be throwing my money at you! 😁

I'd never heard of FjallRaven until I bought one of your sweaters from Facebook marketplace. Whilst others strip down to thin layers, I need wool to keep warm whilst sweating from x country skiing. So I'm thrilled to learn your tech. The shrunken sweater blocks wind but is "breathable." You may want to offer skrinking services for a really tight, wind blocking, pure wool hoodie or high neck sweater. 🎉

I'd like to see Fjallraven use more wool in their products. Wool is the most versatile fabric. Two additional benefits not mentioned in the video are it's resistance to odours, and lack of static charge which makes for a much more natural and pleasant experience.

Hi thanks for the video. You should totally make a abisko padded or a bergtagen lite insulator type jacket but with wool insulation. How does wool handle time and being compressed?
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mikael! Wool have the same compressibility as synthetic, in other words not as good as down, put pretty decent. We do not recommend storing your garments compressed during a longer period of time (regardless of insulation material). wool weighs a ton when wet and dries really slowly so it uses all your body heat to warm and evaporate the water which is not good when it's cold...it's great for non active applications, especially when you don't have chance to wash it regularly as it can feel cleaner for longer than synthetics.

Been looking for a down jacket that would last a lot of years into the future, will probably be from ur company. But as ur implying, they’re not good in rain. Does this mean that the quality worsen after usage a couple of rainy days or does the down stay in the same quality? Nice and simple video btw
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl! Down is great and will last you a life time if you take care of it the right way. We have users that have had their Fjällräven down products since the 70's, still holding up really good. The problem with down is that it is fairly hard to get it dry in nature once it is wet, so you should probably not bring it during multi day treks if the weather is changing a lot and you are at risk of rainy days. A little rain is no problem, and you can always use a shell jacket on top of it to protect it from rain. If you want you down product to last a long time, make sure that you store it in a well ventilated place and not in a vacuum/pack bag. Here you have more care & repair information about down: www.fjallraven.com/eu/en-gb/customer-service/care-repair/down Have a nice day / Lucas

I have a question about down. Ironically, a supplier of mine told me that Chinese down jackets and parka liners (the cheaper ones sold locally) are actually more ethical since they're made from the down of meat ducks. He said that the quality of this down is too low to meet European and American standards which is why its either locally sold or mixed into goose down as "Waterfowl feathers". Its actual down but its not as compressible. They said that the best down comes from the second shedding and that most meat ducks and geese are slaughtered before their first shedding, this being said, how does your down compare to the best performing down?
Жыл бұрын
Hi, Here you can read more about the down we use: www.fjallraven.com/eu/en-gb/about-fjallraven/sustainability/our-promises/down-promise www.fenixoutdoor.se/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/2018-05-23-Company-Animal-Welfare-Policy.pdf We are using 100% goose down and the supplier are sorting the down according to both EU and American standard.

@ Ah okay. I thought it was a regular shirt I could wear in the office. While I have you here, can you please help me decide on which jacket I should buy? I have tried Singi Wool Padded Parka here in Copenhagen and I liked it. But I’m concerned about the wind resistance and also how it handles rainy days in DK without applying the wax. I will use this jacket for every day activities, like biking to work and walking in the city. It seems practical. I’m not sure if it be better to try the Nuuk or some other ones.
Жыл бұрын
@@LencoTB Hi, The G-1000 fabric has a very good wind resistance, so the wind is not an issue with the Singi wool padded parka. This parka is not water proof so in persistent rain it will get "heavy". The Nuuk parka has a water proof membrane and the outer fabric is not G-1000. Also one big difference is the wool padding in the Sing wool padded parka. Since it is wool, this parka will be less warm when you are warmer when walking etc. So it will be less warm in those situations than the Nuuk parka, which is an advantage. The Nuuk has more filling so it is warmer.
