In Top Tip Tuesday this week, we explore how we can access particle data inside Redshift to create complex rendering effects. We use the Scalar User Data node in Redshift to access the particle radius information and this is then used to color particles based on their size. Finally, we take the same radius information and use it to create some glowing particles, which contribute to the scene lighting.

Thanks for finally working along with software / renderers that are actually being used in production. Now it would be nice if we could bake particle information to alembic just as you can with Embergen and Houdini so we can easily port data between different software.

The nxPush modifier, with the distance mode set to 'Radius', is what's keeping the particles apart in this scene.

Can we get an Octane version of something like this? Some of the specifics don't really seem to translate for me and I'm still a little confused

In Octane there's an "Instance Color" node which can grab X-Particles data like the display color and whatnot

do you think the particles run faster with xparticles or the C4d new particles?
