If physics professors would just take 5 minute to demonstrate this after teaching the concepts, that would save the headaches of millions of Physics II students everywhere.

Alright imagine a L shaped tunnel Keeping a mirror on the corner of that tunnel Now pass light though it You'll notice that light manages to pass through the whole tunnel. The light kinda bounced from the mirror since the mirror is a reflecting surface.

I’m wondering if we also should stay in focus point while looking through a converging lens. I mean there is a specific distance between the wall and the lens so the real image can be projected. But as we look a virtual image through the same lens I assume we can look it at any distance and the virtual image is clear and focused (as you demonstratwd at the end of the video while we looking that tiny jeep). Is it so or we also should stay at a specific distance
@INTEGRALPHYSICS
@INTEGRALPHYSICS 9 ай бұрын
A real image will project (in focus) onto a surface at only one point. However, hold a convex lens up between yourself and a distant object, as you look through the lens toward the object you will see the image form at a position that to your eye appears to be closer to you than the lens.

Quick question: In this case, since our eyes contain convex lenses, does that mean we are seeing inverted (real) images? I am just confused...
@INTEGRALPHYSICS
@INTEGRALPHYSICS 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. A real, inverted image forms on the back of your eye; and yes the image is inverted... your brain just got used to it. The purpose of glasses is to move the focal point of the image forward or back so that it forms on the retina (the back of your eye)

So a real image is something that allow light to pass through one medium to another and project a image in the other medium while a virtual image is something that doesn’t allow light to pass through to another medium but still allows it to project light in that medium?
@INTEGRALPHYSICS
@INTEGRALPHYSICS 2 жыл бұрын
A real image occurs when the light (either reflected or refracted) from a surface actually converges at a point. A virtual image occurs when the light (either reflected or refracted) from a surface APPEARS to come from a point it never actually passed through. This is where ray tracing diagrams come in as a useful tool in understanding real vs. virtual images.
