Did you guys lose a school year or basically had to repeat when going to the "aufnahmeklasse"? Super helpful video tho!

No we didn't. My older brother had the choice to be held back by one year since he's technically 2 weeks younger than the official cut off (in the US you start school a little earlier). But he chose not to repeat a grade. Now he's the youngest kid in his class.
