I am right there with you. I see there is an unofficial way to use rclone but I really just want a simple system. All these services are cautious to support linux for storage because they know a lot of Linux users are power users. Like how a guy working at Backblaze said a client would be super easy to make. I think I would understand if there were different rules and pricing for Linux, I just want the services. It is okay to tell Linux users we cannot upload 10tb of data for $10 a month, I won't be offended. Just give me some service options.

Honestly, this doesn't have much to do with the topic in the video but I have to say that even though there are some hiccups, I absolutely love using Linux now. I switched my desktop computer over so now the only thing still using Windows is the server itself. I always get excited when I see a new Linux video from you because I know it's going to be high quality content without a lot of talking and going off the beaten path. I'm a busy guy these days and I don't even have time to make new content for my own channel, so I really don't have time for a half an hour video or more talking about one simple subject that could be explained in a few minutes. But you don't do that and that's why I love your content very much and I'm happy to be on the Linux train, Windows to me feels so dirty now. 😂 But the freedom of customizing my OS and not being under MS surveillance is very appealing to me. However, there is one thing that really irks me and it's not truly the fault of anyone but the fact that Linux is ever evolving, when you search for something, whether it be an issue you're having or something else, you often find posts about it that are 2 years old to sometimes even 10 years old and completely irrelevant now. Either way, I don't see myself going back to Windows and Linux is just going to get better and better as time goes on.

You cannot not access any folder and will throw folder not found error. Good news is that KDE has already fixed in KDE Gear 24.05.2. Fedora or Arch btw or any rolling or semi-rolling distros should have provided the latest update with KDE Gear 24.05.2. It should be good now, or at least many people confirmed that it is fixed and even me too. (pin this btw for good reasons)

Another way to synchronise files with Google Drive is to use Celeste (a GTK Flatpak application). When I tried it, it crashed, but that doesn't matter as I only use Nextcloud anyway. By the way, Celeste can also sync with Nextcloud and a few other cloud providers. However, I recommend using the official Nextcloud desktop client.

The built in integration works well in Gnome (for Google), but when I tried on KDE, it was very buggy. The Google Drive didn't load correctly and calendar would fail to load many times. It's a shame, I hope KDE works on this integration some more. This is a handy workaround until that time comes.

I tried Gnome with Fedora for a few hours but moved back to KDE Fedora because for some reason the Gnome store was exceptionally slow to load. Like minutes and I was unsure why. While in Fedora KDE it is mere seconds. Gnome felt extremely clean though and, aside from needing to adjust the minimize/maximize/exit area for windows, it felt really welcoming out of the box.

I never had my (Google) Calendar integrated with any app or widget prior to using Linux. It was super easy to get up in running in both Mint and Fedora. I have Google Drive setup in KDE and it works great. It was broken for a while when I first switched to Fedora, but at some point it was fixed and everything works perfectly, even weird scenarios like opening Drive files in PWAs. So, seems to work now, but definitely not shortage of bugs.

Interesting that LMDE doesnt seem to include WebDAV in its online accounts like Mint Cinnamon does, although it is easy to add via 'connect to server...' option in nemo. There is a Web Apps flatpak application that allows you to create web apps and then assign any browser to open them. it includes the option to either have a toolbar or not. The ultimate web account manager for accessing files is rclone. It is incredibly powerful, and with the optional GUI interface or rclone browser it is easy to integrate online accounts as mounted drives in the file browser. I've recently been tinkering with these, and they would make an excellent topic for a KZbin video!!
