11:38 That's not necessarily the actual voltage being supplied as VID is the voltage _REQUESTED_ by a particular core. For example, my 9900k may request 1.300v (ie. VID=1.300v), but I manually locked vcore to 1.220v in bios and thus only supply the cpu with 1.220v. It would have been nice if you showed vcore and or explained the difference between vcore and VID
@thealien_ali33823 жыл бұрын
Ur kind correct the only way you u can be sure what voltage is being used is to look at vcore, since your using manual and a static value for you vid is ignored, whereas am using adaptive so I can't go below the vid value as the vid dictates the lowest/highest value in the voltage and anything lower then vids lowest value gets completely ignored unless I do what u have done. But the reason I did this I don't want to be running at constant 5ghzt

limiting it to two slots only has to do with capacitance harmonics of extreme overclocking... in actuality a system with the same amount of ram across for slots is more nimble than one with deeper ram chips in two slots. That's why DDR5 is going to be two 32bit banks per DIMM slot instead of a single 64bit bank. (its multiplexed deep with higher speed transmit instead of using the broad bandwidth) So boards will go back to two DIMM slots but will still have four channels. Since that board has the dumb.2 port you wouldn't be able to use a second bank pair on that specific socket anyway...

I was thinking about this the other day, what kind of specs can you get SODIMMs in? Given how narrow they are, it would drastically reduce the trace lengths, as they wouldn't need to splay out so much. Actually no 1:38...there is a difference between "overclocking" and "overclockable" when used a a term to describe a motherboard based on it intended use case. Basically all boards (nowadays) are what is considered "overclockable" but very few motherboards in each generation can actually be deemed as actual "overclocking" motherboards. Overclocking mobo's have extensive power delivery packages, chipset/vrm cooling and many options to help OC'ers achieve the highest clocks.

I love ASUS motherboars, is really easy to overclock on them, and even their entry level stuff is pretty damm good. I have a Z-370 prime II, and my 9700k is OCed at 5.0 ghz all core and it max out at 75°C on air at 1,2600v, my 4x2666mhz is OCed at 3200mhz, and temps on the board are really great.
