I am assuming those blurred graph lines are the numbers for the newest AMD Threadripper chips that were still under NDA. Intel really does have nothing. They were either severely overcharging when they thought they had no competition or they are selling at a loss now just to keep their fab plants running until they can manage to come up with something that might be any sort of competition at all. The only thing keeping them in the race at all is AMD can only make so many chips. I'm betting a number of those purchasing Intel over the next year will be doing so only because they can actually source those reliably.

And, I bet, to some extent, it'll work as well. The majority of the people buying hardware aren't into tech and don't spend their time doing a ton of research. Don't forget that if you are giving people advice on what to build or buy, don't just tell them to get X because Y sucks, but explain why X is the better choice. Take the time to educate and inform so that people don't just get X because you said so, but make them into smarter consumers that are able to make better decisions.

I know this is a joke but for those that will take this seriously (because unfortunately, there are people that will), LTT's videos aren't released in the order they were filmed. This one was likely uploaded only a few days after it was shot, because they need the video out as fast as possible once the embargo lifts. Meanwhile, another video might be put on hold for a month or two because they're waiting on parts to ship, meaning when the video finally comes out, the events in that video would have actually occurred two months ago.

For those who might be a little bit confused of how this works, a representative or a team at Intel rushed their CPUs to market mere hours before AMD so that they can make the claim that there processors are X precentage better than AMD's current offerings, because at the time and day of release allows them to do this. They did this specifically to present reviews, comparisons, power point slides and benchmarks against a previous generation AMD's offering in order to confuse consumers to thinking that Intel is leading, when in actually, they're barely keeping up with AMD, who have forced intel to reduce their overpriced HEDT chips to "compete" better with AMD's offerings. Linus does a respectful job (as always) blaming an individual/team, and not a company. Thank you LTT!

In this video, LMG already had the Threadripper (TRX) results, but couldn't publish it directly due to the embargo, so they blurred it in the video as to not show their results, but still indirectly compared Threadripper 3 to 10th gen Intel, which Intel specifically did not want.

What intel does is not cheap. There are high risks associated with running a chip fab. If anything slashing the price in half could be a last ditch effort. Probably possible due to having a buffer built during the last years. Remember intels primary problem is not getting their new process up to speed.

Well 14nm and below is very hard to do and don't get me started on 5nm because on that scale quantum tunneling already occurs which completely fucks up an entire CPU and it wouldn't work whatsoever. So going from 14nm to 10nm is a pretty serious task and Intel just didn't figure it out yet it seems. You know how they actually make transistors? They have a template which is projected on a waver so certain parts cure which then result in a transistor architecture. The problem with that is though that you need wavelengths of 10nm which is practically impossible within the visible light spectrum (~400nm - 700nm) so yeah, pretty hard task but eventually they'll figure it out too. 5nm on the other hand is not going to be available for a long period of time imho.

The way things have been going im starting to be convinced that Intel, to avoid fed gov regulation or at least accusations of monopoly if AMD dies, are in bed with AMD at the very top. AMD doing well only helps Intel in the long run cause if Intel dropped the best they have when AMD had dropped Ryzen and destroyed AMD again then the heat would have been unbearable and they would have broken up Intel. It's not like there will be something until 2021. If you just want pure gaming 9th gen Intel is much better than 10th. If you want a workhorse 3950x/threadripper are just way ahead. There's pretty much no reason for this new CPU series unless you just wanna waste money.
