HT adds about a 10% boost. So if you have 8 cores, you would say that equates to 8.8 cores. HT is for compiling and rendering.
@dom38272 жыл бұрын
Wow, as wrong as it can get. Depending on the application, it can be up to 100% boost. And it is not for compiling and rendering, that was not even in mind when developing this technology. The Idea behind HT was to reduce the time where a Core does nothing. This only works so good, depending on the application etc. Sure, in Minecraft you do not get a 100% FPS boost. lol
@photoniccannon2117 Жыл бұрын
@@dom3827 Most applications won’t see anywhere near 100% of a boost. I’ve done various benchmarks over the years and have seen anywhere from 15% on the low end to up to 40% in certain scenarios (more than the 30% advertised, which I was impressed to see). Hyper threading is still nothing to sneeze at, it’s definitely a sizable boost in heavily multithreaded workloads (especially when different types of tasks are run on different threads). But it’s not necessarily a blanket performance doubler on x86 implementations of SMT either. 30% is a pretty good estimate of average performance gains in my experience.

Great video! One question- doesn't additional logical cores count above the physical cores just increase computation efficiency where there are many tasks that can be computed concurrently? Cores introduce parallelism, which may lead to 2 times higher computing power, but threads only make it possible to intertwine the execution of multiple processes- but they do not overlap. Anyway the topic is pretty hard to grasp for me and I'm not sure myself if my reasoning is correct (please correct me if I'm wrong!). Great that you make the knowledge way more accessible. thats not accurate, first second and third gen intel Core i3s has 2 cores with hyper threading, the core i5 has dual cores with hyper threading logical cores also. and i7 has 4 cores with hyper threadinglogical cores that show up as 8 cores. with turbo bost 2.0 and 3.0 max. But some core i5's also can have 4 cores with HT logical cores showing as it. it depends on the modle of the core. The intel core i5 extream edition can have up to 8 cores and the i7 extream can have up to 8 or 10 cores with ht. and i9s can have up to 16 to 40 cores. depending on the generation modle it is.

Soo you are telling me i cant play games on a xeon which has simillar ghz of a core i7 on a same architecture like haswell? And they wont perform almost equally?
@brycebillings35953 жыл бұрын
You can game on them, however they aren’t optimized for playing games.

That seems to be what she’s saying...and she’s wrong.

Is a Q 9650 better than the equivalent xenon? Not true I7 do not have 8 cores at least the one I have it has 4 cores with ht so it appears to have 8 cores but only has 4. So they have a xenon that's quad core 3ghz and a core 2 quad has 3ghz quad core both same specs so how does the core perform better.

very out of date compared to these monsters 9th-12th gen cpus i was using a 3930 which i got 4 years ago i didnt do my research though so i thought it was new and thought it was used which was why it was so cheap but it was so cheap cause it was old i found out the same year i got it months later it was a old cpu for me copying tv show dvds took 5 mins for each episode and when i would skip through different scenes in my editor it would have a delay and rendering would take long say a hr video took like 40mins i upgraded 2 months ago to a 12400 and i no longer get delays previewing and rendering for the same length video takes 10mins my chip was 150 and im using a PRO B660M bought for 125 and my temps maxes in 60s thats when rendering before i would get to the 70s with my old chip and copying dvds eps take now 2 mins each my virus scans are faster to the reason i didnt upgrade to 12900 is cause it wasnt a big upgrade from the cpu i got now and the amazing thing is my cheap is a i5 model years ago in the era that my 3930 it was no i5s that could compete with that this goes for all i5s before the 10th gen i5s was always seen as the mid models now i5s since 10th gen can compete with the i7s it is no longer a big difference in performance like it used to be
