It’s literally 5 full metal gear games + 2 cannon and digital graphic novels. People are calling Konami greedy but not realizing the value in any of this? Bizarre times. I agree so hard with the sentiment here. This was a golden opportunity for konami to win good will with very little effort and cost, and to give us something we all wanted. Even then, they *still* couldn't be bothered to do that. It's not good enough. I was ready to slap the cash down, and instead Konami slapped us all with disrespect and contempt.

They would have earned my purchase if they'd been able to maintain the stability of the original HD releases and delivered the up-converted 1080p they promised (even that would be a pathetic offering in 2023) but they couldn't even be bothered to do that. Screw them. The gameplay for MGS Delta has not earned them any points either. It looks like a fanmade unreal engine demo.

​@@FlyBirdit was addressed in a slightly different way, interestingly enough. On Xbox, you had to hold down L3 and release the weapon button in order to put the gun away, as an example. In the MC, you just tap L3 and Snake puts away the gun. You can actually use a single tap of L3 for Snake to raise his gun, then either tap it again to put it away or use the weapon button to fire. Pretty interesting change.

Not really surprising. Konami is barely a game company these days and when they do release stuff it's slap dash garbage. This thing was always going to be a hastily put together low effort cash grab. Anyone expecting more from Konami probably hasn't been paying much attention to them these last few years (I don't blame you, they've barely released anything in the last 5 years). If you see Konami on the box, just avoid it no matter how nostalgic you may be for some of the IP they own. Konami only cares about milking that nostalgia for a quick buck, don't be their victim.

I refunded my Steam version of the Master Collection yesterday and I guess the next days will have a high increase in the refund rate since the two weeks deadline for refunds (including pre-orders because their deadline begins on the official release day) ends at November 7 - because Konami did basically nothing to fix the situation via hotfixes and proper communication of the next steps which would be crucial to avert refunds in this critical time window. It's likely Konami does not care about this anyway.

To be honest I knew it all along, Konami just don't make games anymore. After the fall out with Kojima in 2015 they just stopped making games, they even killed off theyre football game PES. And after all this time they decided to make easy money selling older games with minimal effort. And people were happy that Konami is back, making classic game collections remaking one of the best theyre games MGS3 alongside with Silent Hill 2. But Konami is not back they just don't have the staff to make games, because they are not making games for a long time now. They hired some people to make this collection and hired external studios to make MGS3 and SH2 remakes. And I have really bad feeling about MGS3 remake knowing the fact that all audio will remain the same as in original. For me that sounds not like a remake, but more like a remaster. I don't have big hopes for future Konami projects.

This could have been such an easy home run for Konami... we weren't asking for remasters. I think we all had the "Nightdive Studios touch" expectation; proper widescreen support, unlocked framerate, remappable controls, and cloud saves. What we got was an incredibly lazy straight port (and somehow worse quality). And i thought "okay, restricted resolution and frame rate, I can atleast get it and enjoy on Steam Deck" Nope, doesnt work there lol. What an absolute disappointment.

Works on steam deck with some minor tinkering, not sure why but the master collection version of mgs3 runs better on the deck than when I emulate the ps2 version. There are tinker tutorials on KZbin showing how to get the collection up and running in a few minutes.

Suggesting the use of AI to replace the voice talent of Paul Eiding is not the way to go. Paul has spoken recently about this subject and is 100% against the use of AI to replace voice actors and is taking action within the industry to make sure this doesn’t happen. Konami could have contacted and paid him to say a half a dozen lines to do with console specific button inputs. I’ve spoken with him previously and he’s a lovely guy who very much still loves the series and the fans that keep it alive. It would be beyond disrespectful to replace his voice with AI, even for such a small portion of his characters speech.

I really do not understand the disappointment. Konami never said they would remaster much less remake the games. Since they announced it, it was very clear to me what the collection would be. I think the gaming community (Especially KZbinrs) sometimes creates these weird over the top expectations and they end up getting disappointed. Not because of what the developer did or didn't do, but because the fantasies they created. I already owned the Xbox 360 HD collection. All I needed to complete the collection was MGS 1. Good thing it was sold separately.

That's exactly why I still retain all the original versions of Metal Solid and Silent Hill games, I have the MGS Essential Collection Box for PS2 (MGS1 PSX even came in a DVD PS2 box) , after the tremendous horrible SIlent Hill "HD" Collection my expectations from Konami re-releases dropped downhill, they will never hire BP or HD to do proper modern conversions. I also loved Twin Snakes despite the meme hates the game gets now a days , its like playing MGS1 with PS2 graphics, I find it funny that peoples bash Ryuhei Kitamura directed cutscenes and how over-the-top they are lol . It is clear that Kojima and Silicon Knights watched a ton of The Matrix while developing the game, as the cutscenes featured a ton of acrobatics, slow-motion, and bullet dodging. People actually complained that they were too cheesy and over-the-top. Yes! People complained that a Metal Gear Solid game was over-the-top. A gigantic ship crashing on Manhattan, a flamboyant vampire who walks on the surface water, cyborg ninjas, a soldier who uses bees as weapons, a parasite that specifically kills people who speak English, a girl who doesn’t wear many clothes because she breathes through her skin, those are apparently all fine. A few Matrix-inspired cutscenes are a no-no, apparently , dear lord give the game a actual chance to play.

The issue with Twin Snakes isn't so much how over the top it is. It's the fact that the slapped on MGS2 mechanics break the fundamentals of the original game. They didn't overhaul the level design to accommodate these new additions. They just left it as is. MGS1 was NOT designed around these, so now you can cheese various sections of the game by just going into first person view and using the M9. It ruins entire boss encounters such as the Ocelot fight where the intended way to fight him was to circle around the support pillars whilst avoiding the bullet ricochets and C4 wire.

It's actually based on MGS2 A.I , depending on the difficulty or being searched for carefully also enemy soldiers had the ability to communicate with each other and detect the player more intelligently with senses of sight and sound enhanced.

Still better than nothing. Specially for MGS3. A PC version of that game was LONG overdue. I'm happy because I can't run games properly on PCSX2 with an FX6300 but this port runs great. If Konami applies some patches and modders work their magic with enhancements (texture packs, reshade, ray tracing and more) it will be the definitive version to play the game. O would not buy the other 2 games on PC though. The duckstation version of MGS is way better and the modded old PC port of MGS2 is the best way to play the game on PC.

I've been a HUGE Metal Gear fan since the days of the NES so this was a day one purchase for me. I've already purchased the games several times including both the Vita and 3DS versions and even an obscure game called "The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2". I opted for the Steam Deck version so that I could play it on the go and the smaller screen would make the graphics more tolerable. Game was absolutely broken. -On certain games, the buttons wouldn't match the on screen prompt. -The music player was completely silent. -MGS3 and MGS2 wouldn't launch at all (now they launch but there's no voice acting) -The bonus content won't even download. It's a shame, really.

Someone once asked me the definition of OVERBLOWN HATRED in gaming and then I pointed towards two games and ONE COLLECTION. The two games were RED DEAD REDEMPTION RE-RELEASE AND GOLDENEYE 007 N64 RE-RELEASE/ SEMI MASTER & THE COLLECTION WAS METAL GEAR SOLID MASTER COLLECTION VOLUME ONE. The only thing worth getting is the bonus content with the 4 graphic novels and if anybody cares (I don't0 includes the two garbage NES Metal Gear games. Probably the MSX Metal Gear 1 and 2 games, probably the Japanese version of MGS1, MGS2, and MGS3. Konami couldn't get off their lazy azz and give us MGS11-3 using the Japanese audio with English subtitles and UI but included the English dub for the Japanese audience which is complete bs. Will have to wait on modders to provide this feature. Though probably better to get the original game in ISO likewise for the English MGS1, MGS VR Missions including the European version, MGS2, and MGS3 on emulation as you won't have to deal with cutscenes being deleted, minigames being deleted, and theater mode not even being included in MGS3 master collection. MGS2 I forgot what lacked there. Konami is trash for how they treated SIlent Hill collection and now Metal Gear Collection.

ASPYR did a fantastic job with the recently released Tomb Raider 1,2,3 Remastered. This is what Konami should of done. But they chose to be lazy, poor effort indeed. They didn't respect their own work. Not worth buying.

I'm a huge MG fan, and I'm not buying this. I was looking forward to this, but it's extremely disappointing how the Master Collection is worse than the HD Collection. On top of that, seeing the laziness of these ports, I'm worried for the MGS3 remake (and the Silent Hill 2 remake as well).

Metal Gear Solid 2 looks great on PC if you use the resolution mod to play it in 4K. Then I use Reshade to add SMAA and Adaptive Sharpening.

I was very tempted to buy on the Switch for on the go, but after hearing how disappointing this port is I will mostly like never buy it or see how cheap it gets and maybe buy the digital version on switch or xsx? I already own the MSG1 on PS1 disc and have the PS3 legacy editon and the xbox360 HD collection and have MSG4 and MSGV so I am good on MG games for the time beiing ;)

The funny part is there are a decent amount of people defending this shit port around the internet. "OH they included digital goodies" that are not even on the damn disk. This is a abysmal port they would of just been better off using emulators and not even messing with anything else. It sucks because they only put additional effort in areas the least important. The main importance should obviously be modernizing these games for current hardware. The would entail proper widescreen support, 60fps-unlocked framerate on pc, Higher resolutions, better controls, etc. Obviously it's cool you don't have to worry about switching disks and they made switching controllers easier than a emulator but that should of been on top of the more important issues. It's laughable they couldn't even be bothered to put the books the game includes on the disk which would of been a kbs in size probably, it just loads a webpage. The legacy collection and the 360 hd ports blow this out of the water especially in the perspective of their times of initial release. It's another example of companies giving less value. The legacy collection on release included every metal gear up to that point with a actual physical art booklet for the same price (maybe less I don't remember if it sold for 60 or 50). Everything was on the disk to. This collection doesn't even have mgs 4 for the same price.

I remember when the Konami/Kojima split happened and people said that Konami was the only thing keeping Kojima in check but I wonder now if Kojima was the only thing keeping Konami relevant. At this point, I’ve got zero expectations for mgs delta. Although it looks good, this company will find a way to screw it up.

I confess to buying the Switch version, which was ill-advised I see now. I just wanted to have these masterpieces in my collection, and figured the smaller handheld screen would favor the Switch version. I have the HD version on the Vita, I wonder if MGS2 and 3 look better on the it that on the Switch.

i have a ps3 im happy with the hd collection but i did buy this game while it was $46 at greenmangaming because i play mostly on a steamdeck now. the master books are a fun feature. the switch version does look horrible i played my friends switch. it looks way worse than even the 3ds version

I’m not surprised. It was never Konami’s legacy. It still belongs to Hideo Kojima. The Snake Eater remake will be one of the most unoptimised games on UE 5. I can surely tell unless a miracle happens.

MGS3 is my favorite game ever, but im gonna say, the controls were always a bit of a sore spot for me, sure, you get used to them, and they actually allow you to do a bunch of great stuff which i appreciate but i honestly think the pressure sensitive buttons were a bad call, like, holy cow in my first couple of playthroughs i was killing so many guards accidentally while trying to interrogate them or, get this, this is BY FAR the worst, most awkward move you can pull off in the game with the original controls: keep a guard in a chokehold, while looking in first person and aiming your gun, this move involves the following: press O lightly to keep the guard in a chokehold, if you press the button too hard you will stab him, press L1 to switch to first person, and finally, press Square lightly to aim your gun, if you press it too hard, you will fire it granted this is not a move you will be performing often by any means, but it shows the controls have issues

You guys seen that Silent Hill Ascension fiasco? It's a streamed TV show and it has a battle pass and you have to pay to influence the outcome of the episodes. It's so bad it's innovatively bad. Any semblance of hope of Konami pulling a Capcom is well out the window as far as I'm concerned.

Its just a collection of the first 3 games I bought it on switch and i am amazed because it all run well...its weird but the 30fps on mgs2 is not bad... I would like to do better work on mgs1..the graphical glitches...but otherwise theyre all true original releases

It would be nice if Konami would put all the Silent Hill games in a collection, even if it is from the HD Collection. Better to have it on current gen consoles rather 2-3 gens ago. And I wanted Snake vs Monkey. That was fun.
