I lost my 35 yr old son last year to drugs. He had survived at least a dozen ODs, but this time he didn't wake up. I'll never be ok. This video was tough to watch but i thought it was beautifully done. Demi is very brave for telling her story and showing how dark addiction can get. Hopefully it will (or already has) saved someone's life. Anyway, AB I'm a long time sub, i usually don't comment much but if anyone who is reading this needs help with addiction I'm begging them to please reach out and get it-- now. Please get sober, you CAN do it. Don't make your family go through what I'm going through. You are worth saving, no matter what's happened so please reach out and get help 🙏

This song is really powerful vocally and lyrically. I'm glad she told her story through her music.

This is also the same outfit she had on the night she OD'D. It took so much courage all around for her to make not only the song, but the video as well.😢

She did a documentary about what led up to that night and after. That mysterious dealer was an old dealer she had. He had laced the drugs with Fentanyl and he SAed her while she had out of it and left even though it was obvious she was not doing well. Thank God her assistant found her when she did. Highly recommend the series she did - it’s on You Tube! My ❤ goes out to everyone struggling.

She was struggling and her team wouldn’t help her so she relapsed after 6 years and started drinking and doing D**** she hid it well but one night an old dealer of hers got her very high SA her the heroin was laced with fentanyl the doctor said she had 5 to 10 mins if her assistant hadn’t gone to her room when she did she was crying out for help. But she’s so much better now. Addiction is real it’s a disease some people just don’t understand. I’m proud of her though❤️❤️

This video is a detailed re-creation of the events of the night of the OD, right down to the green jacket she wore, her hair (which she had cut when it was filmed), the look of the drug dealer etc. She was rushed to the hospital where a tube was sewn in her neck in order to pump out blood, clean it and pump it back in. The "survivor" tattoo (which is real and one of Demi's many tattoos) is where the tube used to be. The fact that she was able to re-create one of the worst nights of her life is so amazing and brave. Demi said she was so close to dying that if it had been 5-10 more minutes she wouldn't have made it. She had multiple strokes, a heart attack and suffered brain damage, the latter of which caused major vision problems. She was legally blind when she woke up in the hospital and couldn't see her sister who was by her bedside. As a result she can no longer drive and do certain things. She was assaulted by her drug dealer the night of the OD (she also revealed she was raped at age 15 by a Disney co-star). There is a documentary, also called Dancing with the Devil, where she goes into more detail on what led to her relapse, her OD, SA trauma and aftermath.

Demi is phenomenal, her newest pop/punk music is such an amazing departure from the pop/r&b she usually does. The album Holy Fvck has some bangers! Skin of My teeth, Substance, and 29 were singles. 29 is I think one of her best songs she's ever written/sang, it's heartbreaking and the backstory is something so many people can relate to

This song makes me cry every single time I hear it. It is so powerful. Infinity & beyond powerful. Her voice is so strong & she’s very underrated in my opinion. I hope she continues to stay sober. She’s truly been to hell & back

I think it is a very brave song, but the video is haunting. I understand people initially being upset, but she put it all out there, a shortened amount of what happened, to hopefully change someone else's life, and this was her life, absolutely her story to tell in her own right. I am glad she was as truthful as she could be both in the song and the video.

This song and video are both hard for me to listen to and watch because I lost both of my parents to addiction and a couple of friends as well
