Some great lightning strikes there even though the storm was not overhead, I liked the sound of the quietly rumbling thunder too.

If the heat lightning is getting brighter, that means the storm is approaching. Another sign is the wind picking up and getting gusty. As it gets closer, the thunder will soon be heard. If you are hearing thunder, you're in danger. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors. If you stay outside when the storm is very close, that's playing Russian Roulette.

This is heat lightning. It's too far away for thunder to be heard.

I think you'll find if you try listening or turning up your volume, the thunder is VERY audible therefore this isn't heat lightning. 😂
