I like that you guys don't just put a bunch of highlight clips together and make it seem like replacing leafs is an easy task. You show everyone just how painful it is haha.

Can't say I'm in the least bit interested in crawling under cars and changing suspension but you guys are so much fun to watch I still enjoyed the video :) Our 60 had extra springs put in in order to handle the brick of a caravan we used to tow. It was then less like suspension and more like sitting on a large rock. Possibly the hardest suspension in any 60 anywhere.

FYI - zero sag makes for a really bad ride on the road. Can see it at 25:57. You'd be supersized how much the suspension needs to sag slightly, rather than letting the whole car fall. Even an inch of sag will make a massive difference to the smoothness on small bumps and undulations.

This vehicle never carries much weight and so the harshness of this suspension setup is real. People avoid traveling with me because of how harsh it is. The search continues to return it back to standard as the desire is to not have the vehicle looking too modified.

Legends, so many laughs! Another classic. And a micro-cover of Yothu Yindi. You're (almost) continuing to give me the false confidence to do bad things to the '86 FJ60 in our family, thank you! Thanks for showing the bush pin wear around 20:ish, illustrates why the grease matters. Always questions... Did you think about the Dobinson's greasable pins or do they not have them for the 60? Unnecessary question - curious about the ride height measurement, over here hub center to top of fender opening is what everyone seems to use, clearly it doesn't matter, just an observation. Thanks again, so much easier to watch DIY's when they're fun!

In the rear you should have a look at installing high clearance leaf plates from Superior Engineering. The threads & bolts are countersunk into the plates. A relatively inexpensive mod & a easy one too 🤙

Nice video, I'm assuming that's a 12ht in her how is it with the auto power wise and is it twitchy when you hit a little bump? My manual 12ht gets a bunny hop happening when you hit even a small bump if you haven't got your foot wedged on the kick panel unless if using the hand throttle.

Atleast the 60 series have spring under suspension so you can drop the leaf packs out the bottom once you undo them and don’t need to jack up the car a whole heap like a spring over setup. (I personally find spring under easier to work with)

for the front get some 75 series parabolics from Westralia springs, move spring mounts forwards 25mm, standard shackles and old man emu 80 series 2inch raised shocks. rides like a prado, flexes like a 60 should. i think Westralia does 60 parabolics again....

@jakethomasgarner1886

With all the other little bits of chrome on this particular model, it’s hard to imagine having the standard black mirrors on it... but we like this model because the JDM cruisers did have slightly different things to what other countries got.

If you're doing a 2 inch lift put 40 series swing arm linkages for the back and vt commodore swing arm linkages in the front and it will level out your swing arms for a better ride. Common mod for 60 series owners 👍

@@jakethomasgarner1886 for better or worse?
@jakethomasgarner1886
@jakethomasgarner1886 3 жыл бұрын
Worse. In our situation, this vehicle is not often going to be carrying the amount of weight needed to make these springs sag the way they should. The more aggressive curve provides the lift, but it needs more weight to make it work. This vehicle is staying relatively stock to honour what it was in 1989. We have loaded it up quite a few times in the hope that it would sag, but it seems to need a constant extra load of at least 150kg to make the springs work properly especially in the rear. We will be returning it to standard springs and installing airbag helpers in the rear for when it is weighed down for long distance travel or towing. If considering gaining 2” (40mm roughly) of lift from this type of spring, it would suit a vehicle that has a permanent drawer system, extra spare tyre or two, larger fuel tanks etc.
