Lol. I’m in my second year at an interaction design college program. Did really well in the first year and am honesty just coming here to actually define what I’m doing…For me, it just is a program where the projects are things that I wanted to do and would have messed around with regardless. But that’s all I see it as at the moment. A fun time. Basically hit me this morning that “yo. This stuff seems really valuable in today. Like damn I’m lucky to have stumbled into this program….but what tf is it? I need to actually explain to people a definition instead of just a bunch of verbs when I’m asked in the future.” So Yee.

And about 48 second in, I thiiink my definition is spot on. “It’s designing the best possible bridge between a tool and the senses. To make things; to make those feel like a part of the user.” …

Hi there. I’m very interested in bringing more awareness to the world of interaction design to my team. I have to say that as I was watching the video, I kept thinking about how much overlap interaction design has with a UI or Visual designers responsibilities. In fact the only area where I can see it not overlapping is possibly sound, since you can’t see it. So my question is this: If the interaction designer’s deliverables are wireframes/prototypes, how does this differ from the deliverables of the UI/Visual Designers?
@InteractionDesignOrg
@InteractionDesignOrg 3 жыл бұрын
Hi There, thanks for your question. It's a valid concern that comes up often in design teams. In fact, it's usually a good sign when it comes up because it means that the team's awareness around their work is increasing. Ditte partially addresses the question when she covers 'what do interaction designers do?' Although she explains that it depends on the team and company (larger or smaller teams, usually), she also mentions that one or two people might do most UX design jobs. For such teams, that's usually where the 'borders' of interaction and visual design become blurry. In a large team with specialized roles, an interaction designer will likely focus on points of interaction and how those are perceived by the user (create a design strategy). Meanwhile, the visual designer will focus on how these interactions (and everything else that's visual) convey that meaning. In a specialized setting, a visual and interaction designer will work side by side to achieve a perfect amalgamation of their work and translate it into a fully functional experience. However, as a specific output of work by an interaction designer, the deliverables differ from those made by a visual designer because they include the underlying processes of using the product. Since the same people usually undertake both roles, the separation of interaction and visual design is not obvious, and the deliverables may look the same. But it's still there. :-)

@@InteractionDesignOrg What are some common deliverables (or results) of 'design strategy' phase? Could it be user-flow diagram for example?
@InteractionDesignOrg
@InteractionDesignOrg 2 жыл бұрын
Hi @@dawidwojcik293! Although the “design strategy” activities and deliverables may vary from team to team, the general goal is to uncover, define and communicate the problem in a way that is helpful when designing a solution with wireframes, mockups and prototypes. So some typical deliverables in this phase include user flows, and also (but are not limited to): - Empathy maps - Journey maps - Jobs To Be Done (JTBD) statements - User stories - Personas - Perspective grids You can learn more in our courses: ixdf.io/ueAJo

For mig ville videoen have mere værdi uden lydtapetet (lydparfumen).

Thanks for the feedback, Anders. The addition of background music in videos is a somewhat controversial issue. Same as whether listening to music is helpful to study performance. However, from our experience and past research, background music provides 'texture and aural interest' that engages with our students and helps them focus as it captures their attention. However, it's never too late to conduct more research on the subject! Thanks for bringing it up. :-)

I have recently enrolled in college and am now in my first year of pursuing a bachelor's degree. Can I pursue a master's degree in interaction design for UX design after completing a bachelor's degree in communication design?My college only offers a bachelor's degree in communication design with a focus on graphic design. However, I want to pursue a career in UX UI development. What steps should I take to achieve this goal?

Hey Alex 😊 Thanks for reaching out to us! You can view a detailed explanation of all our courses here --> bit.ly/3EYiwRG And to give you a brief overview of the two, Interaction Design is specifically focused on the design of interaction between users and products, where as human-centered design emcompasses a deep understanding of the user journey, their behaviours, need, and wants.

Three years later, 95% of all app design work is called "UX Design," while 80% of engineers are "full-stack." 😆

Thanks for sharing your observation! 💪 It's true that job titles and roles in design and development have evolved significantly in recent years. "UX Design" has indeed become a broader term, often encompassing interaction design and other specialties. 🤔

The content was great. But a little suggestion, please do pronounce the word correctly so that it will convey the acurate meaning and will not lead to confusion.
@sambeard4428
@sambeard4428 3 жыл бұрын
This is a useless comment since it is trivial that correct pronunciation of the terms used is beneficial for conveying a message. Therefore this comment is not constructive at all and more an insult than anything else. Presentation is a skill which is hard to master especially if you have to present in a language other than your native tongue. Perhaps in the future if you encounter similar situations you could provide specific cases where pronunciation was unclear and point out what you think the intended message was. This way you might actually help people out who have difficulty understanding the video instead of giving unhelpful criticism towards a product someone probably spent a considerable amount of time and effort on.
