In Europe we consider the RE Interceptor and Continental classic bikes with modern engine. Honest machines at a reasonable price from a historic brand. From this perspective, Alloy wheels do not make any sense. I would add that that the blackout engines are another nonsense decision.

Yes but Indian road conditions aren't as neat as the UK so alloy wheels are recommended in order to avoid frequent punctures in the wheel.

In case of the RE 650s, weight seems to have increased with the addition of alloy wheels, if we compare the kerb weights mentioned in older brochure and newer brochure I believe that the weight saving happens more in case of cars where the steel wheels are heavy, but in motorcycles, spoke wheels tend to be equal to or lighter than alloys.
