@jeremy1216904 жыл бұрын
So here's an idea for the rumble on your switch lite, get a motor from an old cell phone (these are quite small) and relay of some kind, wire the relay to the positive side of the speaker and to your rumble motor. Pull your power for the rumble motor from the usbc port! You could even put a small pot on the wire coming from the speaker to the relay to control when the vibration happens ( so only the loudest sounds trigger the vibration)
@Psyymann4 жыл бұрын
Honestly the only feature I miss switching from an old switch to the new switch lite is the rumble.. Would pay extra for a USB c rumble pack of sorts
@MrSoulBack4 жыл бұрын
Dont forget the diode across the relay or it will fry your switch. The magnetfield induced by the coil will cause a voltagespike as soon as its not powered. This spike has to be limited with the diode or it will cause permanent damage. But it anyway would be easier to go with a transistor insted of the relay

I think you should get some surgru, another rumble motor and extra wires. Splice into the speaker cable so it can power both sound and the motors, then use the sugru to mold a new grip where the motors would be inside of on the back of the switch. You would make the first ever rumble pack for the switch lite. I thikn that's VERY much doable. You've already done half the work now. Totally awesome!

FYI, the speaker and the electric motor are almost the exact same structure by design. Both are essentially an Earth magnet and an electric magnet created by a coil of wire. The difference is that a speaker is meant to force the two apart and vibrate a surface and a motor is supposed to force the Earth magnets away and around an axis. This is why I think the HD rumble pack worked for you so well. A rumble pack is basically just a motor with an unballanced weight at the end of the shaft that makes it shake. I'm guessing the "HD" in the name is just because there's an array of motors that can be individually controlled. I'm unsure if this is taking the actual rumble data or the sound signal and using that to power it but my guess it that it is the actual rumble data as most motors would require an amplified audio signal to sound correct at all or rumble at all. If this is using the sound data, however, I couldn't recommend running this setup constantly. Just as motors are mechanical devices, doing so can result in them getting really, really hot as they are not designed like speakers entirely so the intricate sound frequencies will generate a lot of heat. Hope you learned something! Neat video, I enjoyed it!
@CrustyHead24658 ай бұрын
I pretty sure its hd because of all the things it can do, high definition rumble

if you slice the wires together with two moters then you can leave the speakers in place and still have the rumble function you wil just have to have two motors outside the console and the sound as well

For 3:23 to work although Vince didn't explain it, you need to try it with games that do not use the system API for the pop-up O/S window asking you to connect controllers (the operating system one with the white background). All of the games shown (Smash Bros, FIFA, Cuphead etc use in game controller connect screens). I hope that helps someone if its a feature you'd like to use. It's actually small things like that that annoy me about big business. What I mean is I wish they would take the time to modify the software so that on the switch lite (or even the base switch really) when you want to add a second controller it asks if you want to use it as controller two or in place of controller one. I don't have a switch lite but on the main switch it defaults to turning off the joycons attached to the tablet itself (when in handheld mode) to use the new controller as player 1. If they are detached it makes them player one and whatever new controller you add player 2. Maybe a bit long winded but I'm very passionate about small details like that. :)

I you could really implement the converting sound into vibration, it would be awesome for deft people as it will improve their experience bay a lot, and almost every game allows you to turn sound off so there wouldn't be that noise, imagine that on a survival horror game, where you need your hearing for knowing when an enemy is nearby, well if you can not hear, at least you feel them before hand

Human fall flat is a great game for weird controller setups. It considers attached joycons as some sort of player 0. You can play with joycons attatched as the second player or the first one. If you have detached joycons as player one and attatch them, a different controller will become the first player without changing leds. It also does not default to attatched joycons being the first player option.
@petergreek84824 жыл бұрын
Hey Vince is it Posible to solder the chip that does the video out from the normal switch onto the switch lite? Was doing some research and it seams Posible. Please respond :)
@maquez6504 жыл бұрын
speakers work with AC, while the motors from the PS4 controller are very standard DC motors. The HD rumble motors probably work with electronic magnets, moving them in a linear fashion, wich would allow very precise rumble, just by changing the frequency of the electricity going through it. the fact that te PS4 motors don't work doesn't have anything to do with the power outputted by the speakers, they just work in a completely different way.
