I ride a C1 zephyr 1991 on cold start up it sounds just like this one but when its warm it purrs like a kitten would not have any other motorcycle.

Zephyrs are great looking but always sound rough. No cam chain adjuster?

Peter Broadey they don’t have a primary chain Tensioner. The chain slaps about until it warms up. I’ve owned 3 zephyrs and they all sound the same. The cam chain is automatic tensioning. Regardless they are great engines

Yeah. They clean up under load but soud like loose change at idle. Did 161K kilometers on mine, trying out ZR7 motor for a while while the original gets rebuilt. Sounds a bit rattly at the lights put the pullaway is pure Z.
