Hey Phil, wanted to say thank you for the realistic solutions and results. Many content creators make it seem as if you should end up with a brand new car at the end of every detail. Or if you don’t spend 8-10 hours on a car you’re not good enough. I appreciate the real world feedback this channel provides.

As a former Accord owner from that era, use caution when rinsing that engine bay with the power washer. Mine had the 2.4L 4 cylinder and some water seeped into the wiring to or directly onto the cam position sensor. This caused it to run in limp mode and would rev over 3000 rpm. It took a week or so for it to totally dry out and get running back to normal.

Great job Phil, I owned a 2001 2 dr. Honda accord for a couple of years and your right about the 1 stage paint. horrible, polishing was the only way to go. mine had cloth seats which were in perfect shape. Beige interior in mine also, I hate that color interior. btw the yellow scrub brush you used on the arm rest was a life saver for me on a job I did the other day on a Toyota camry with beige leather seats that were horrible. Keep up the great work Phil

Looks nice! My commentary is that when tackling curb rashed wheels that you're not familiar with, be careful and examine very closely because they can be sharp and can easily cut a finger. How do I know, well, it happened to me. Obviously not applicable to Phil cause he's a pro!

I'm not sure why people think that washing a panel from side to side and up and down causes those tiny circular scratches. If washing was scratching the clear coat, the scratches would be more random rather than uniform swirls like are done by a rotary machine
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s interesting.....when examined closely what looks like circles is mostly straight lines in many directions...horizontal, vertical, and at many different angles. A light, which is also circular will make it look like circular swirls when they really are not like that. It’s an illusion. Weird right?

Phil, I'm always pleasantly surprised at the amazing turn around you do. I also appreciate it you showing us the trial and error you have to go thru, to achieve your results, I learn so much from that. Kinda of an unrelated question to this detail. How do you handle cleaning and rinsing behind the fuel filler door on Ford's with the cap capless fuel filler pipe? I'm always fearful of getting soap or water in the gas tank. I mostly use ONR and Kirkland microfibers, sometimes it's a little too dirty for that.
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын

Honda didn’t use single stage paint for this car or any car from this era. It was always base coat clear coat, the problem was they used crappy water based paint and thin clear coat that didn’t hold up over time. If this was a single stage paint then the paint would be coming off onto your polisher as you’re polishing the paint.
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Well it was coming off on my pads. It would gunk them up white and I would have to blow them clean after every pass. I have worked on plenty of these white single stage paints from both Honda and Toyota.
@MirandaDetailing3 жыл бұрын
So the paint code is NH-578 Taffeta White. It clearly says here that’s it’s single stage white www.driveaccord.net/threads/is-taffeta-white-a-single-stage-paint.28307 There is a downloadable pdf with paint codes and it clearly identified it as single stage. Please do research before making comments like this, it simply confuses people who need to understand this. I decided to answer this comment here instead of exposing it in a video. People who watch this video need to understand how to determine paint systems so as to know how to proceed with polishing. I research and have years of experience dealing with paint systems. Yes they did use some water based paints on certain colors. But not this year white.
