One of the things I've learned in my years of painting-ceilings is that by using a "short" stick, your head is thrown back and both it and your neck are constantly twisting-not good for the neck-especially if you have any neck issues (and if you do this often enough you will wind up with neck issue-which I have). To completely eliminate any head twisting; extend your stick out (about) six-ish feet and work "in front" of you-so that you're looking ahead of you-never to the side. Work backwards-moving towards your backside. Once I figured this out, I never again twisted my head or ever had to tilt it back (slightly-once ina while). You'll catch on quickly and your upper spine will thank you.

Very good. Excellent point at about 2:16 about finishing into the wet edge..I teach my trainees the same..so many videos seem to miss this..the only thing I would add is I would have started on the right if I was using my right hand, or on the left if using my left hand, this makes for an easier more natural action, instead of sometimes having to position myself so my arm doesnt cross my face.

Hi--You are correct that if you can stand in one place and roll the entire width, that works great, but if you divide it into halves and "lay off" toward the middle as I show, the roller strokes blend together and don't show up. The reason I demonstrate this way is because many ceilings are simply too wide to do the entire width at one time without "walking" along, and I prefer to stand in one place rather than walk with the roller. Just my opinion, though--there are different ways to do it.

I have painted a lot of rooms over the years. One thing I learned was indeed dried paint and overlap marks. I have my own system for avoiding them. How does doing the cutting in all around the room with a paint brush avoid them? Seems by the time you are rolling, the cut in would be dry and hence paint overlap marks all around the corners. For my part, I do cut in's about 2 feet, grab my paint roller, roll from there down, stop, do another 2 feet cut in, and then roll again. The roller avoids the brush marks and any overlaps. More effort, but the results are good.
