This is so bad. Especially when you’re a good hearted person and care so much to your loved ones but sometimes you’re the one who hurt them. It feels like there is a monster inside of you. The shame after is so overwhelming, mostly because you know that what you’ve done, or said, just can’t be fixed. It takes a lot of work and self control to minimise it. Stay strong 💪

I felt so much shame reading this, thank you for writing it down like this. I just came back from an episode and the first 3 things I do every time are 1 cry, 2 google why on Earth I reacted that way and 3 look for Anger management counsellors who take American Express because the state issued ones put me off counsellors as a whole which isn't fair. I've suppressed so many instances like this, family members will be like remember when you did xyz? No I have no recollection of that, I think the shame forced me to forget it to keep the suicide inducing self loathing at bay. For what it's worth I don't drink alcohol or do drugs (prescription or street) some of us just come off the assembly line wired wrong. Duds if you will...

As I get older my fuse is short damn near blown out by now so yea I’m pretty much by myself and it sucks! Stay strong and prayed up my fellow IED people 💪🏾💯🙏🏾❤️

my bf does not feel shame or remorse afterwards because he's proud and thinks his behaviour is totally reasonable... I wish he was more conscious about how he makes me feel... because I love him so much :( I also feel like there's a monster inside him... like there are two versions of him: my charming prince and his monster... 😔

This makes me feel so validated. It's not that I don't know my behavior is irrational, it's just all of a sudden I get so angry I feel like punching a wall. I'm not proud of it nor can I control when it happens, but I find that separating myself from the source of the anger the moment I start to feel aggressive gives me space to calm down where I won't hurt anyone. I know I am not a monster, since I am doing my best to keep others safe when this happens. Thanks for the video!

That vs about being male is not true. I'm a 58 year old female and have my triggers that make me this way. I control it in that I NEVER take it out on living beings, only objects, and try not to show it in front of people. Everyone is slightly different with IED, me personally I get extremely angry. I personally never called anyone names, but I've scared people with my threatening nature when it happens. Crappy thing is, I go for a walk by myself, come back and I'm constantly apologizing, trembling, and feel terrible what I've done 😥 Totally agree though, sit them down and tell them your worried about them, they probably need therapy but feel absolutely ashamed a out it. Sometimes we just need a friend/ family member to give us a hug, say I'm worried about you, and I'm here to help. 👍

He is medicated and is in therapy but he still has outbursts and is like a jekyll and hyde with his severe mood swings that are sometimes triggered over nothing and other times his anger spirals out of control. I used to have anger problems, and i did something extremely violent once that changed my life forever. I've been angry many times where everyone is afraid of me. Learning myself, my triggers, what's worth it in life and what's not worth it has helped me tremendously in regaining and never losing control. Also feeling anger in the moment instead of repressing it is a must. And not letting situations occur that will cause me to think back and say I wish I did this better (eliminating regret) helps as well cuz you don't have those situations to look back on and fuel your anger. Lastly doing shadow work and trying to REMEMBER what happened to me as a kid has helped me tremendously. I had to accept the fact that i was touched as a kid and it does not make me any less of a man, but in that acceptance the memory came back and i revisited it but i was able to heal from it. There may be more traumas I have to unpack and as I do so I will heal further. Goodluck to those dealing with IED.

I hope you get the relief you need!! I was assaulted before brutally and I had many many traumas as a kid and as an adult. It has rendered me a bit borderline. I have serious anger issues too(and I’m a female) I agree with you we need to feel our anger (and not repress it) I have that tendency. I avoid feeling my feelings. I repress them and then I have no space left in me for any joy. I’m just a random stranger that hopes you (and I) get the relief we need! I hope you find peace, joy, and happiness in place of rage,anger, and fear! God bless you!

Thanks for this video. All these things you have pointed out are factual about me. My own IED works differently. When someone makes me mad, I get emotional wrecked. The emotional wreckage then stores in me for a very short period of time in the form of boiling anger. After a while, when another person or the same person makes me mad again, it immediately reminds me of the emotional wreckage I had, a d it suddenly start making me aggressive, I have offended alot of people today because of this, and I have quit some social medias and shall only return when I am able to control my IED Thanks for the video

They are forgetting that it's not traditional things that exasperate the problem. Often people who suffer from IEPD have outbursts of anger or rage even if the thing provoking them was perceived. So even if the person did nothing wrong they're still gonna get angry.

I have had this curse my whole life. I have had situations where before I know what's going on I have a guy by the throat. I'm just as surprised as they are! I remember the event later on in a blur of pictures. There is no treatment that has worked for me. I try so hard and sometimes it feels like people bring the trouble my way. My last episode was a drunk neighbor knocking on my door at 5am non stop. I used what I learned in therapy and answered the door and tried to be rational, then when he kept knocking I told him to go away, then I warned him, and then I lost it and slammed him against the wall and threw him down the stairs. In this case I almost feel justified because I was minding my own business and he brought it my way and I tried several tactics to avoid it. But, that just might be me rationalizing my behavior. Idk.

My grandpa, he was 80 when he's dementia started to get worse (he also has ADHD) but the things we observed about him is he became paranoid, confused, delusional and also showed visible signs of IED i would say most of the time he gets frustrated and he's frustration would become this raw anger he would become very aggressive and would sometimes explode and cause a ruckus, there's a time when me and my cousin stayed at grandpa's house, i don't know by that time but we were talking, and suddenly grandpa just woke up and became extremely grumpy and started saying some random stuff or specifically things that old people talk about this days, like why they hate this current age for example, and reasoning out with grandpa isn't gonna help because a small conversation would become an argument so sometimes we just remain quiet and sometimes we avoid talking to him but it's just kinda sad to see grandpa in that state.

I don’t think this is what I have. I met with a new person from the department of rehabilitation and said that this is what I have. I looked it up and this doesn’t sound like it. Basically what happens to me is my heart starts to beat really fast and I then I get these strong, uncontrollable urges to hurt myself. If I don’t find a way to hurt myself I turn to hurt another person. It won’t go away until I hurt myself, someone else or I get restrained. When it happens I take it out on myself. It's never too late to work on yourself, and asking for support shows strength and self-awareness. I Went to go smoke and I immediately felt bad and like I was in control again but felt very drained and tense, almost like I was running on E. I’ll be outside at the store or even at home and would just have these random outburst of anger, like why???? Sometimes it's just verbal or hitting/ throwing stuff by myself or in the room with people but if someone is right in front of me the anger and rage goes to hurt. it sucks I only stop because it's like I realise this is fucked or see how scared people are. Recognizing the need for help and deciding to return to therapy is a significant step toward understanding and managing those feelings. It’s important to work with a therapist who can help you identify triggers and develop coping strategies to prevent those outbursts. Remember, you're not alone in this, and seeking support is a strong and positive choice. It might take time, but with effort, you can learn to manage those feelings better and improve your relationships. Take care of yourself, and be gentle with yourself on this journey.

It feels as if I become a different person altogether. All my values change instantly and I become vindictive person and seek revenge for those who have wronged me. I think I have developed IED as a defense mechanism from being bullied and slighted. It worked for a time and allowed me to stand up for myself, but now it’s exhausting.
@MedicalCentric
@MedicalCentric 4 ай бұрын
@BucsFan1307 It sounds like you're going through something really challenging. Experiencing intense emotions and feeling like you're becoming a different person can be overwhelming, especially if it's tied to past experiences like bullying. Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) or similar patterns can indeed be exhausting and difficult to manage over time. It's important to seek support from a mental health professional who can help you work through these feelings and develop healthier coping mechanisms. You don’t have to go through this alone-help is available, and you deserve to find peace and balance.

I think i have this .... i catch it before anything crazy happens 99% of the time. But my heart starts beating so hard and my blood pressure goes way up. the initial physical reaction is impossible to stop, because it just happens but once you feel this; and catch it you can walk away and come down.
@MedicalCentric
@MedicalCentric 27 күн бұрын
@levitumlin7481 It sounds like you're experiencing a strong physical reaction, possibly related to anxiety or panic attacks, where your heart races and blood pressure increases. These reactions can be intense and hard to control in the moment, but recognizing the signs early, as you’ve mentioned, can help you manage them better. Techniques like deep breathing, grounding exercises, or progressive muscle relaxation can help bring your body back to a calmer state. It might be beneficial to speak with a healthcare professional or therapist to explore strategies for managing these episodes.

Im not sure if i have this or not but it seems like it just not as bad.. mainly because i hold myself back alot. I get really pissed off either for no reason or for simple things and it takes control of me making me very verbally aggressive, i start shaking, punching walls or feel the need to hurt myself then i feel a constant sense of being misunderstood, feel like when it happens my partner fuels it and it drives me insane. Then all of a sudden im okay again but its so easy to just happen. I mean after typing all this i might actually have it because i remember being physically violent as a child. Wish i could control, makes me hate myself so much because no one deserves to deal with it and i feel like ill always be alone because of it

I think I might have (IED) because I got angry at my mother and then yell at her , I can't control myself when I do that. After that , I finally feel like myself and I cry because why I did I do that? Why did I yell at my mother and why I can't control myself? I really hate myself for hurting my mother and it's not the first , it's been happening for years I don't know exactly where it started but I think it starts when I'm in 8th grade . And I'm so Suicidal at that time I always think to end my life because I always hurts my parents, I hate myself for not being a good daughter. I have thoughts to hurt myself but I can't , because I'm afraid of the pain. I don't really know what to do , I always have an argument with my mother and I always hurts her , I try to apologize but she won't accept it, she said that I always do that and apologize but still won't change. You know that hurts really bad because I tried I always tried it just I can't control it, it feels like there's a demon inside of me . I , it hurts when I'm like this , and always feel that I'm alone. I want to be better but I don't feel that she is by my side like you know you want someone to be there when you get angry , you want someone to say to you take a deep breath and think. You want someone who will help you to finally be able to control it . I envy Bakugo from my Hero Academia because I think even he has angry issues, he is always surrounded with people , his friends and they are used to him and know that even he is like that he has a nice heart . And they are always there and help him to control his anger like how his parents are always there and help him to be a better person . Pls. What do I do? Please help me

It sounds like you may be experiencing symptoms of Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED). I recommend seeking professional help from a mental health provider to get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Therapy, particularly cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), can be very effective in managing anger and improving relationships. Additionally, consider talking to your doctor about possible medications that can help regulate your emotions. Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, and support is available.

Interestingly, I just discovered the NAMES of many conditions I had as a child and now as an adsolescent. I have been diagnosed with IED myself, however I miraculously don't get physical. Basicly I experienced temper tantrums and can be verbally aggressive towards others as well as argumentive. I also have comcomitantly ODD which is Oppositional Deviant Disorder. My school doesn't like me so well for obvious reasons. I have been suspended more than once by those who do not understand ODD That's odd, yes ODD! lastly in the psychiatric area id ADHD I have that comoborbity as well. I personally think this triangle is interlinked. I am less of a problem than when I was a child of 6 to about 11. But as a teen I have calmed down a bit. When I do experience outbursts i get injections of Haldol. I have done property damage but never hurt anyone or animals. I ammostly just loud and thrteatening but generally not cross the line of physical violence. More tantrums than and self degredation. Now I can remember the names of these conditions I have experienced and to some degree still experience. Thisis the major reason Ihave not done so well in school.

So I have ASD, OCD and ADHD. People like me including myself aren’t like this. However with people with just ADHD it sounds like they could have and I thought it would be just NPD. Although and again I’m curious whether or not people with IED not just have ADHD but also OCD. That’s curious but with people like me or people with ASD, they have a hard time learning and learn social cues but actually still want to keep being good at it even if their bad at it like me. People with ADHD apparently don’t care which is why I did hear that some people with ADHD can have NPD. NPD isn’t a disability though it’s where people lack empathy and don’t give a shit about other people in a really bad way!!!!
@MedicalCentric
@MedicalCentric 3 ай бұрын
@benkidd5976 It’s great that you’re exploring and understanding these complex conditions. ASD, OCD, and ADHD each have unique characteristics, and it's important to recognize that everyone experiences them differently. People with ASD might struggle with social cues but are often motivated to improve. ADHD can impact focus and impulsivity, and while some may seem less concerned with social norms, it doesn't inherently mean they lack empathy or have NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder). IED (Intermittent Explosive Disorder) can co-occur with various conditions, but having ADHD doesn’t automatically mean someone will have OCD or vice versa. Each condition affects individuals differently, and it’s important to approach these discussions with empathy and understanding. If you’re looking for more personalized insights or support, connecting with mental health professionals might be helpful.

Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) is a mental health condition characterized by sudden episodes of intense, uncontrollable anger or aggression, often referred to as "rage seizures." These outbursts can be disproportionate to the situation and may lead to verbal or physical aggression. Treatment typically involves therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and sometimes medication to help manage impulsive behaviors and underlying triggers.
