In this video, I have described the internal surface of the anterolateral abdominal wall. The supraumbilical part of this surface has a falciform ligament with ligamentum teres hepatis (round ligament of the liver) and a paraumbilical vein in its inferior free edge. Ligament teres is a remnant of the umbilical vein of the fetus.
The infra umbilical part of this surface contains the median umbilical fold, medial umbilical folds, and lateral umbilical folds which show the presence of the median umbilical ligament, medial umbilical ligament, and inferior epigastric vessels. Median umbilical ligament is a remnant of urachus and medial umbilical ligaments are remnants of obliterated umbilical arteries in the fetus. There are three fossae in this area. Supravesical, medial and lateral inguinal fossae.
