Kieren, thank you a lot for this series of discussions with Mr. Wang bringing clarity to overcomplicated issues. Those who practice may see "echos" of problems encountered during practice. The most tricky for me is exactly the issue when the mind is always copying the experience trying to replicate it. But it replicates the image of the experience, not the real process. And the tricky thing is when the mind take a copied picture as a real process... Advice to deflame the mind - exactly what helps. Intent is like the chopsticks. One doesn't imaging chopsticks or a fork to eat a meal. One just take chopstick or a fork. In my experience, intent is the same, it is what exists, but hidden behind the imagination... And people often just imagine chopsticks instead of just taking chopsticks placed in front. "Intension is not intent of your mind but intent of the energy"... thank you, very well said. In-tension. Etymology, directly from Latin intentus "a stretching out." Another important thing is pronounced at 10:55... Exactly what the intent is. And it reminds me one episode from the "Ghost" movie, 1990, subway scene. In the childhood it seemed to be pure phantasie. But the funny thing is that despide the words about the mind and emotions they really discussed the intent there )) kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3zIeopuoMaNmM0

there's an old traditional martial arts saying: 'external styles go from from hard to soft while internal styles go from soft to hard in the end they both end up in the same place'. The thing that I see the most is where the internal stylist or the external stylist sticks to only near the starting place and does not do the work to get to the other side, so the soft stylist has little hardness and the hard stylist has little softness.. the most profound people I'd ever seen had reached a place where you could not say that they were 'hard' or 'soft' I think they must've reached that end place.

Master Huai Hsiang Wang goes way beyond modern understanding and practice of martial arts. Granted he talks about traditional Chinese kung fu. Even his language and terms are different. Essentially he shares with us a practical science of life. A revelation.

Well, Gentlemen, Again a highly instructive dialogue, bringing light into the difference between external and internal aspects of KF, seemingly an eteranal conflict. Albert EInstein said, that problems cann be solved at a higher level than created, and to the very end cam the name of a God Jesus, who also, by your words Master, lead people from egoistic thinking toward eternal energy-based idea, if correctly understood. Yes, God is above all of us and people will never be the same! It is difference that make them moving too. Many thanks, anyway. Older people need moere your approach than taht of athletic-based physical training. God bless you all. Paul,67, retired instructor of Karate, admirer of Kung Fu

Why does Taijiquan always get defeated by MMA fighter compared to other External Kung fu styles like Hung Ga, Choy Li Fut, Mok Ga, and other? It's not that I am saying Taiji or Chinese martial arts is useless coz me myself is a Hung Ga practitioner. But the fact that Taijiquan always becomes a laughing stock in Martial arts after Lei Lei get defeated by Xu Xiaodong which I hope it is only one art or the person itself being blame but then now almost all Chinese Martial Arts becomes a laughing stock Luckily people still practice external Kung fu like Hung Ga, Choy Li fut, or those Kung fu forms in Shaolin Temple and acrobatic Wushu schools

Different systems talk about different internal engines, like internal WC such as CST being different from Taiji way, in Taiji they talk always about Ying/Yang. Is this true? Is all the same in the end? Are they just "more elevated" steps but the same at the peak? Thanks!

I understand everything Howard said because of the book Inner Engineering by a yogi named Sadhguru. Western culture is "I think therefore I am." This is logical to me and to most but it's faulty logic if you are seeking this path. "You are a being, a life's energy first, before you could think." The first person to realize and tapped into this life's energy (chi in Chinese) is Adiyogi, 15 thousand years ago. Yes. But not for martial arts. This knowledge then spread to China or regions now we called China, and used in martial arts, philisophy, medicine, and healing as well. Hope that helps.

@@realhomosapien Because the MMA fighter who won only challenge the unreal master or people who feel that they're already master (fake), try to challenge real Chen family or real Shao Lin teacher and let see the result. Second cause is all the "master" that they fight didn't have proper fighting exercise and experience if compare to MMA fighter.

@@frbud exactly, Taijiquan was a grappling and standing wrestling martial arts, but people like self proclaimed master misconcept taijiquan as a magical chi bulshido martial arts. I disagree with the idea that the dantien exists and doesn't exist- it's not just a concept, after cultivation they truly have a life of their own. And what I mean by that is that the energy will do what it does without your consent, channelling efforts, or mind intention. When you have cultivated your qi in your body, and it gets amplified to a certain point of strength, it doesn't always do what you want it to do, it will do what it needs to do to support the life of the host. In the beginning of cultivating the dantiens, there is no dantien, this is true. They are cultivated through meditation and practice and they grow, like a fire in a cauldron. Yes, the mind does the work to create an abundance of qi in the areas of huiyin, , true dantien, middle dantien, and upper dantien areas. But doing this type of practice is just one method. But, make no mistake, when the dantiens are full, you will know it and they do change your life. And they can be dangerous, if you don't know what you are doing. I understand his point that if you mentally transcend your physical manifestation then you no longer need to use your energetic plexuses and nerve ganglion clusters to harvest your dantiens. Master Huai Hsiang Wang's practice is even more "internal" than developing your dantiens. And is more akin to Tai Chi "proper" cultivation practices, where your whole body is a dantien, and even the earth itself is the dantien your surf upon;and totally releasing your mind's conditioned shackles from your body's bondage. *One only has to look up the practices of Mo Pai to understand the most extreme school, known to the public, in cultivating the lower true dantien.
