There is nothing more satisfying than going to a custom hydraulic shop and asking how much will it cost and their reply is " how much you got" I have a feeling your channel is going to take off like a rocket as soon as the algorithm catches up.

I own an old Series III Land Rover with the same oil filter setup. The only method I’ve discovered for pre-oiling the filter is by placing it in a bucket of new oil before installing it in the canister. I’m not sure if it has any real benefits, but it makes me happy.

Do you have a habitat for humanity around your area? That’s a great place to find tools, you could pick up some brake pliers, adjusting spoons, and retainer spring turner driver pretty cheap. I hit the flea markets too.

@@NockRanch Yep,, always had a soft spot for the Intenational Pickups, they were a favorite of my dad when I was a kid. The family car was an early 60's Travelall, and his drive to work vehicle was an 1100 pickup (the half ton version). If and when you decide to repair the eyebrows over the headlights, Fitzee's Fabrication here on YT has done several series on recreating unobtainable sheet metal parts.

Hey mic I noticed when you were putting your brake shoes on that you didn't lube your brake shoe contact points on your backing plate , there are six on each backing plate all it takes is a little dab of white lithium grease on each one , it prevents the shoes from wearing into your backing plate and keeps them from squeaking when they rub together 👍👍 By the way I have 11yrs experience at Midas doing brakes

Just my two cents but Hobo Fright (Harbour Freight) has a set of brake tools for $14 USD. I'm sure you have lots of places to put your money but when i used to do brake work, i had one specialized lever for removing/installing return springs and another plastic handled jobby for removing the hold down springs. They worked slick. Cheers!

Love your videos bud! I always look forward to them. You have quickly become one of my favorite people to watch. On the oiled rear bearings I always dump some gear oil through the bearing and roll it around some. I unfortunately get to do drum brakes on a regular basis since I have a trucking company lol. I'm not a huge fan either but you get used to them.

Master Cylinder - to T . . .to T = No proportional valving. All breaking equal to all wheels. Truck with most of the weight up front and an empty bed will be sketchy with nothing in the bed and rear wheels wants to lock up easier (think rain). Mind you . . I get it. You need the pure basics to see what else could halt the process. BUT. . . Since you were working with custom fab due to unobtainium. . . I cannot understand why not install a T fitting for the front lines down on the frame nice and clean, and a new line from the master cylinder down to a T that feeds front and back all hard line? For the life of me I cannot see a single reason for soft lines in that setup. What you have will work. But damn that collection of hardware for the front . . .in the Cleveland salt and snow .. and well that truck and all that steel at 45 to 55 mph and something go wrong and you use a tesla to slow down could be bad news. Just mechanic to mechanic. Love your videos. Please do the carb on the wife's car again. We miss her!

@@NockRanch - I can only say that when you look at this truck. . its ALL metal. Mass, weight. Stopping that mass when it is moving is actually more than normal (in todays plastic parts and thin metal era). New drum brakes all around will get the job done. It's not like your racing it on a track. Your work is solid. It will work perfectly fine. At 50+ I can only say my experience is that when I do that job, I then think "brake system is all new (unspoken - finished)" and stop thinking about it. I have seen what salt does. I know why they have the proportional valves and what it does. And I have had the need for a change of underwear when I need those brakes and either the noise of locked up tires (bad) or the sudden hard to hit the floor feeling of the system failure right before the loud impact sounds (worse). Lesson of life here? You can do a lot of things less than perfect on a vehicle. But Brakes. . . no.
