International 574 Clutch

Part 1 Replacing the clutch on the 574, It has been juddering for a while but not slipping however splitting the tractor revealed a badly worn cover plate and a crack in the flywheel! though clutch plate and preassure plate seem fine! Hopefully part 2 will show rebuilding the clutch and rebuilding the tractor! stay tuned!

Small, shallow cracks on the face aren't too much of a problem they are caused by heat when the clutch is over slipped, its when the cracks are around the crank bolt holes the flywheel is then fit for scrap. I hope you get it back into work soon.

There a good tractor to do clutches on the 35's, Ive done mine main thing is having the front and back supported enough so you can push them back togther dead level. will make job alot easier.

Think i will have to do the clutch on our 35x soon, will be my first tractor split which will be interesting!

I must admit i'm in 2 minds as to what to do. The crack seems to come from were a little hole is drilled under the face of the flywheel, it only seems to be as long as the hole is deep! After that its a fair thick job think tractor would crack before that! I want do job proper but as were only just starting out in farming funds are tight.

Jim Buford we just chocked up the back then used a pallet truck and a couple of euro pallets. we had to put down a sheet of ply as I was doing it on the stone drive at home. split and went together easy just raising or lowering the pallet truck.
