Heathrow runs on 98% capacity so every flight has a fairly strict slot I believe, just to keep things organized.

@@JettingJulia I live in London, Heathrow's a special Airport! its the busiest dual runway Airport in the world so as Ben say's it runs at capacity. Somewhat annoying considering my place is directly under the flight path :/
@linkedinfred4 жыл бұрын
Ben Gray also, LHR has a noise abatement policy in place which means that no flights between 23:00 - 06:00 can land. Most of the US flights are scheduled for operational reasons to land in the morning so that stretches the slots further.
@harrylarsen51394 жыл бұрын
Fred Watson That’s not quite correct - there is a points-based quota system which allows flights during that period. A handful of flights operate (mainly early morning arrivals, E.g. BA have a number of Far East arrivals as early as 4.30am). There is also a provision for delays.

Many people think international flying is glamorous but if you are doing it for business or your job such as yours, it can be more tedium than glamorous especially in this day of heightened security. That said, I have had some amazing trips to Tokyo, London, and Frankfurt to name a few. My last trip to London we went to a play in the West End and I was so tired I fell asleep for part of it. Thank God I didn’t snore. Afterwards we dined at a great Thai restaurant in the area. All-in-all, I have been fortunate to mix a little pleasure with business. One of the biggest considerations with commercial transatlantic flights is the North Atlantic Tracks. The few hours between eastern Canada and the British Isles is a blackout area for air traffic controllers so 10 skyways are set up for commercial airliners to follow and keep them safely spaced apart. Eastbound flights are traditionally overnight/redeye & westbound fly during daylight. If your flight were delayed long enough then there's a likelyhood that it would've missed last call to catch an eastbound north Atlantic track and possibly come into conflict with transatlantic westbound flights.
@JettingJulia4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it probably would have conflicted with another flight, luckily we were able to make it though! Thanks for watching!

Hi Julia .... It's not so much slot times, flights often get delayed as you know, with no problems with the captain re-scheduling departures ... It's more to do with your arrival time at LHR ... LHR usually shuts runways at around 11.30pm because of noise issues and re-opens around 4am, to conform to noise abatement for local residents ... The terminal buildings are always open 24/7 365 days a year ! ... The Term "DEADHEAD" is also used in catering for a catering box or cart that is empty and just used for stowage purposes ... Do you know youtube Kat Nesbitt another Dallas based Flight Attendant who fly’s for American ... ? Kat is also looking for collaborations with other youtube cabin crew ... ! Catering are also only allowed to service the aircraft from the right / starboard side of the aircraft ... Love the channel ...

The flight attendants have always been fantastic on those AA DFW-LHR flights. I take flight AA50 from time to time. However, I am 6'3" and those economy seats are tight. I sit on the isle and the food and drink carts hit my leg constantly. Next time, I will need to spring for a business class seat. Great job with these videos by the way.

Ahh I’m sorry about your legs in economy constantly getting hit by the carts, we try so hard to not hit anyone 😅 but yes business class is a total game changer! ✈️ thanks for watching

So glad you were able to get out and explore London, especially after the long delay. As I am from England i find it really fun and interesting to see you explore the things you find in London. Next time you visit, I highly suggest going to the London Eye, on a clear day you get a really good view of the city.
