I've been doing International trucks since the 70's. Absolutely love the quality behind their manufacturing. Here in British Columbia there weren't any R-140's or R-160's but we're 4x4's in the 50's. Most had horses . I've had a few 1/2 ton and 3/4 4x4's. Good work your doing, I'd love to find one. I have a 68 1)2 ton and some more parts coming soon.

Man, that was a lot of grease! Real interesting to see that axle joint - got a glimpse of one in another video. Massive! Probably hard to find, too.

I had a cool 57 back in the late 1970s always loved that truck it was a step side version........... just a great truck. Only problem was it was used for an oyster shell truck at processing plant .....rusted to crap .........always ran great was a 4x and sat really high .......was told it had been a fire rescue truck at one time. Great video came here from Back yard Alaska.............I sub to your channel

It was over sixty years ago, where dad was rebuilding one of these on a 44 year model gmc truck.. army rig, where he used the alignment tool, dad had me hold my feet on either side of it .... I was small enough to hunch down and hold it in place while he put it together. I did them by myself as years followed. The square plug that is showing in the metal hub could be removed and you poured 70x90 weight oil in there. Didn't have that boot so used a piece of starting cord rope inside where it pulled out to it and wrapped it around so the oil would not just run back out. It was on the 6x6 model so the front brakes were removed an we just blocked that part off and used the brakes on the rear axles to stop those rigs with. horrible amount of work to just get to the shoes n the wheel cylinder.

Im currently building a 1950 diamond t 520, its a international... putting cab and front clip onto a 1986 ford f250 diesel 4x4 running gear.. the flat head straight 6 turns over, never tried to fire it, might run 🤷♂️, 2 speed rear axle and transmission all seem to move freely but, im not using any of it.. hopefully ill have most of the build done before winter but im disabled and building it by myself.. 🤘🤠👍

Couple questions. Did you measure the axle shaft lengths by chance? Im trying to see if early rockwells would fit. Also are you doing lockout hubs? Did it have them already? Where did you find them if not? If the rockwells do work, then i have an option of chrome moly U joints and shaft. Or they have just plain shafts with rzeppa or bendix. I imagine chrome moly trumps any debate?

Hey thanks! Sorry for the late response, but I definitely appreciate it!

Did you rebuild or replace your front wheel cylinders eventually? I'd love to know what was involved. Maybe a re-sleeve?
@westeses9 ай бұрын
Do you know if you can swap the rzeppa with a Bendix? I'm working on an M-2-4 and having a hard time finding the Rzeppa style. Or of you might have any spares laying around that you'd like to sell I'd be interested. I follow you on instagram by the way, great stuff. Love seeing these old trucks!

What kind of modification do you need to do the trunnion oil seal(NAT) to make it work?
@buckinjb3 жыл бұрын
Eric...when it was first worked on, what do you think they repaired, the same seal?
@BareKnuckleBinder3 жыл бұрын
It’s hard to say. There was some funny business on the driver side. I took that side apart after filming the passenger side and there was a Rzeppa-joint axle shaft from a WWII truck on that side. This is only a guess, but maybe an axle shaft broke early on and they torn the whole axle down to check it, replaced the original seals with the same model/style seals (the correct replacement at the time) and bolted it back together.

@@BareKnuckleBinder Do you know when anti-seize was first used? That may provide a time frame the earliest it could have been worked on. Yeah, that is strange that it had two types of joints used (not that I really know the types until I heard it from you just now). Anyway....good luck getting the truck to Texas. We await your next BKB video. Later.
