I've really taken to watching Sabine play. Her Dad is great too but as a drummer, I appreciate keeping the Krupa, Buddy thing being kept alive. She makes those tubs sing and so joyful too. What playing music should be all about. After decades of playing in rock and blues bands (which is fun no doubt, it's refreshing to see this music being played. My first teacher was a big band guy and I had a love for swing, jazz playing ever after. Anyone who loves this style of drumming should check out people like Pete Cater and Daniel Glass on youtube and on line.

So good! The kind of drums I envisioned myself playing as a teenager. I never came close, but this performance is very reminiscent of my idols, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, and a little bit of Joe Morello. Smiles. And, the boogie-woogie piano player was okay, too.

Sabine thank you for that, havn't seen/heard brushes used for ages and it brought back memories of my youth. One I'd like to share. I was in a N London boy scout band, played the bugle badly and the side drum lots better. We would do church parades and other public parades through the year. Plus one extra when the County Commissioner was leaving, he was also a jazz clarinet player so our band leader devised a surprise. He always carried the base drum on parade and had a stand and foot pedal made, he organised that the parade stop outside a music shop for the salute. We marched up came to a hold, the Commissioner said a few words of thanks. The band leader broke ranks placed the drum on the stand, I stood to his left and a cymbal player to the right, we now had a small drum set. A piano was wheeled out of the shop followed by some wind instrument players, plus a spare clarinet for you know who. The Commissioner loved it. PS: That was way back in 1958
