She asked why he didn't take the chicken. It's because you still have to take care of the chicken for it to lay it's eggs. Feed it, give it water, etc. They're already on strict food and water rations so that wouldn't work out too well. You're better off just taking the eggs.

I think it’s more so just the fact that he was a paratrooper so there was no way to make sure that he could bring it with him. I had chickens growing up, they mostly eat bugs and seeds, you don’t actually have to feed them unless you want a guaranteed egg every day.

Keeping said chicken alive and not compromise your own fighting strength is why he didn't take the chicken. Chickens will just eat food waste and whatever is on the ground, but it would be used for meat instantly. Paratroopers were constantly on the move, and they were rarely spending any significant amount of time in one place.

Young man you Sir are absolutely 💯 correct! I served in the Air Force, you can never underestimate who on the day is about to be a hero. In tight spot serving overseas for myself and thirty fellow men with me, you tend to overlook the little guy, when young being surrounded by 32 testosterone fueled 18-24 you do not expect the smallest man among you to save you all, but thats what happened to me and the others with me, a 5 foot nine 145 lbs young man is the reason many big jacked guys got out alive. When in a group of young men, leave no man out, he's your brothers, in fact he may save your life. Black white or whatever color you have with ya! Make feel the love. Even a small dog can give an edge with a little bark.

Good point about, how if you took another path? That's why I think things aren't just random in life. You asking if you ever think about how one little thing could change everything.. in the shortest explanation possible, WWII was caused by how WWI ended & WWI started bc a 19 y/o kid named Gavrilo Princip killed one man, Franz Ferdinand.. crazy when you really think about it. Take the casualties from WWI & WWII from soldiers on both sides, German woman & children forced to fight at the end of WWII, the people who were discriminated against along with the other innocent bystanders. Then how they were fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins & take in account that each individual person lost over both wars was one of those & the surviving members affected.. all bc of one 19 year old 😳🤯
