So, the story behind his handle was that he got injured and thus couldn't work and started a tiktok with the handle "fat electrician" as a joke because he was joking he'd get fat due to not being able to work out, and he ended up blowing up because of how awesome his content is and the name stuck because of this, at least that's what I remember of him answering this on a podcast.

Work with a dude who was a gunner in an M1A1 Abrams. He was in the battle of Sadr City and in the movie American Sniper there is a scene where a dude gets sniped off of a wall. Apparently it was one of his guys. I call him the Terminator cause he is a craaazzzy dude lol. Talking about hitting people with 120mm canister shells with a big ol smile on his face. Shooting into a building with estimated up to 100 fighters in it. He was built for war.

Tank camouflage is paint and brush covering it. It’s mainly to hide them from recon aircraft and bombers, but also hides them at range on the ground. Most common camo back then was to dress it up like whatever was around, so if you’re in a wooded area you dress the tank up like a bush. In the desert, you paint it the color of the sand. The different colors in camo paint works to break up the image of the tank to cameras and the human eye, the same way that Razzle camouflage worked with warships. A battleship can be nearly invisible to binoculars and aircraft from miles away, even though it looks bizarre at close range. This gives them the edge to strike first and ambush enemies. Also, tanks are quick. Modern tanks can have a top speed of around 50mph, but back then they went all different speeds. There was a Soviet light tank, the BT-5, that could go nearly 60mph and had drive tires so that if the tracks were hit, they just drop the tracks and drive off. Heavy tanks could go maybe 20mph at most, but medium tanks like the Sherman could go around 35mph. On the bronze star, it’s a pretty big award. My guess is that silver and gold were critical to the electronics in the vehicles, as the birth of radar and night vision, among countless other things require those two metals for their construction.

Tanks in WWII would camouflage themselves by hiding behind things, like buildings, hills, ditches or even hedgerows. Using bushes and dirt to disguise itself, they would arrange themselves in a position where they knew the enemy had to travel (ie: the bridge) and open fire on that chokepoint when the enemy got in range. The enemy wouldn't see them until they fired, like the scene where they lost the first In The Mood.

@31:34 His model of tank was capable of going 29.9 mph or 48 kmh, which compared to the tanks of WW1. The first tank, the British Mark 1, was capable of just under 6 mph. @38:13 It was common practice that if possible, should all members of a family be in the service and only one remains they'll usually pull him and out send him home as to hopefully not end that bloodline/family.

So first, tanks can move at 60-70 mph. (I was a tanker in the army 92-94) Camo...camo does involve some blending, but its mostly about breaking up shapes. When you are looking for something, lets say something mostly square shaped. You brain is looking for that square shape, its familiar and easy to see, especially in an area where nothing else is square. So you use natural material to break up and disguise that square shape, so its not easily noticeable. So its not really that difficult, I mean, its a bit of work, but not that hard. And from a distance, your tank, or whatever, is very hard to find.

A M4 Sherman tank could travel on roads about 30 mph. Which at the time was a fast tank. Not only were M4 Sherman tanks fast, but they were mechanically reliable. Comparatively easy to repair. The United States manufactured just shy of 50,000 M4 Sherman tanks during WW2. Where as the Germans most produced armored vehicle of WW2. Would be the Stug 3. Which used the chassis of the earlier Panzer 3 tank, but the Stug 3 didn't have a turret. The Germans just built a superstructure around the main gun. The Stug 3 was an infantry support vehicle. It was never intended to do battle with enemy tanks, but the Stug 3's low silhouette made it hard to spot at Longer distances. Plus the Stug 3 was easily modified to take bigger and better main guns. Eventually the Stug 3s would be given a long barrel 75mm main gun. Which was a very effective anti tank cannon for its time. If you add up all of the Panzer 3 tanks and Stug 3s built by Germany during WW2. The Germans only built around 10,000 of these vehicles.

@@NoCodeLive if I were you two, check out a KZbin video called something like The Numbers of WW2. Where this video graphically illustrates the numbers of the dead from WW2. If I remember correctly, something like 27000 people die every day for six years. From direct causes of WW2. Of all the different nations involved in WW2. The Soviet Union paid the highest price. When it comes to people killed during WW2. The best estimates are somewhere around 16 - 20+ million Soviet soldiers and civilians died during WW2. Most of those deaths were civilians.

German tanks had a top speed of about 48 kph an hour or better if pushed. Modern tanks do like 90.kph A favorite of German tankers was to park a tank in the center of a house , barrel pointed towards a window, you couldn't see the tank barrel because the windows were left intact until he fired.
