I go across all the time. I have learned just answer their questions and be honest.

For sure. We got stuck on confusion and miscommunication about the slabs

It is too risky to cross the border. I would much rather pay the extra money to UPS or FEDex.

Those are awesome books. Congrats🙂

That is why I have not crossed the border in five years😞

there hasnt been much reason to go down in the past few years, just to get my PO box stuff now. However this was totally miscommunication and ended up being nothing. Thanks for watching!

Me too! It would dry up my cgc submissions 😂

You could make a reasonable argument that the books are worth what they're worth. Grading only confirms their value and doesn't actually add value
@ComicsRediscovered2 жыл бұрын
Ya that was part of the conversation inside, but that's hard to get across to someone whose never dealt with grading of any sort. Thanks for watching and commenting

Why not just put it all in the trunk and not say anything about them. Just say your went to visit friends and leave it at that. I guess not being in Canada I would not handle this situation well. I would go straight to "it's non of your business"

That is indeed the wrong response crossing a border haha

Its on you man. Ive been crossing the border daily for 20 years (excpet during covid) never tell them more then they need to know. They are not your friends
@ComicsRediscovered2 жыл бұрын
haha actually I'm against lying in most regards and when the boxes are there and they ask I have to tell them. It boiled down to miscommunication in the end, but man it was stressful haha thanks for watching and commenting

The problem with border agents is in my opinion assumes everybody might be doing something shady😞
@ComicsRediscovered2 жыл бұрын
thats basically the foundation of their jobs haha

Very glad they didn’t confiscate your books! I mean c’mon already, these are for the PC strictly. Good thing that one agent was a comics collector himself.

Me too! And I feel that same, that guys input certainly saved me

Sorry about that last one, I'm a new subscriber. And I've been out of the game for 30 years and I just got back into it. Love the books love the slabs the lucky guy. I will never come to Canada. Not because I don't want to, because I could never afford it. LOL thanks for your video it was a good one and I'll try to catch up on your others too.

I wonder if you made a short video on your phone of your collection that also showed it was your home and not a store if that could help resolve it quicker if there is a next time. At least with the idea that you are not going to sell them. Perhaps just trying to drive home the idea that you wanted the books professionally encapsulated for preservation purposes and the grade only reflects the quality of the book for ones own sense of pride would also work? Glad to hear all went well in the end.

That's a great idea. I was thinking of what I could do next time, I might steal that. Thanks for watching and the helpful comment

I have books from a CGC submission that will be shipped to a box office in the US and then I will be getting them picked up by a border courier. Are there any border fees that I'll have to pay? I know a lot of people do it, but I'm not sure of the process.
@ComicsRediscovered2 жыл бұрын
I'm not too sure I've never used a courier. If it's clearly marked as Canadian goods returning to owner you shouldn't. But as they're being sent to the US first I don't know if cgc included that letter. It isn't in with the books when they send to my Po box but it is when they send directly to my house. Maybe ask them to include it or find some way to mark it as such
@acesontilt772 жыл бұрын
That sounds like such a purely driven money grab by your country. I mean seriously if they sit you down and take your stuff because you "transported" your own books back? I mean that would just not sit well with me.
@ComicsRediscovered2 жыл бұрын
Ya there's not suppose to be any cost on your own goods coming back, it was totally the confusion of if grading improves value and that I had other purchased goods. There's a value threshold when crossing the border, it actually goes both ways. However I entered the US with nothing to declare
@asupremelove51492 жыл бұрын
So you have to claim these at the border?! Yeah screw customs.
@ComicsRediscovered2 жыл бұрын
You have to declare everything crossing the border. Usually it's no issue but the initial agent was too confused
