My band opened for Travis around 2011 and he was sober at the time and frustrated by people around smoking pot and he needed some space. I'm a recovering alcoholic now(wasn't sober then) and wish I could have been helpful then. He did a great set and was very nice to us. My friend later played drums for Travis. I hope for peace and healing for Travis.

I seen them Friday night. I honestly couldn't believe it was the same guy from this video. But I will say one thing, it was one of THE BEST shows I have ever seen. Travis is amazing. And he did say at the show he put the alcohol and shit down since summer and isn't 100% but he is feeling better. My word to him, Travis you are amazing. Stick with being sober. Your talent is rare. So many love and appreciate your music. Don't waste this gift....

Travis has fought addiction since he was a teen. He finally got diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at like 28years old which is around the time this video came out. As someone who has the same thing and also didn't find out till i was almost 27. I used weed and drugs for a long time to make me feel normal around people. Wasn't till my diagnosis that i had some clarity on my struggles. I been lucky to finally get sober but i still deal daily with the obstacles of ASD and trying to act normal everyday to fit in with the world and appear as normal at work. It's exhausting sometimes. Especially when people don't understand or know about my ASD. I couldn't imagine being a musician touring and performing Infront of big crowds and dealing with the metal fatigue of ASD. Travis has been a huge inspiration for me and is what got me to buy and learn to play a guitar.

The bad thing about getting high is that it's so awesome. Drugs allow you to fundamentally escape reality for a certain period of time, and because of this they are so addictive. The feeling of being high is always an ineffable one, in that an essential part of your brain is being changed temporarily in order to facilitate a sense of wellbeing not found in daily life. Too many people go overboard with their drug use and refuse to use responsibly.
@timbsm2 жыл бұрын
For musicians, I think it's a totally different ballgame. Drugs for musicians are like steroids for athletes; they are symbiotic with the creative spirit. Sure, sometimes the party just goes too far, but I think most musicians are just chasing that next idea, that next divergence from the norm.
