My roots are in Yorkshire - my mothers family are Yorkshire folks - and now one of my sons lives in Halifax with his wife. I would be on the next train to your church if I could but due to a car accident many years ago I have a lot of pain as I broke a bone in my spine and I can’t walk very far these days. So annoying 😬. I’m 74 now and I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life - but until then I have a place to come and share my love for our Lord Jesus Christ with people who are following your progress. God bless you always - Amen 🙏 xxx

Thank you for this honest, to-the-point discussion with your guest. I left a church because it became extremely toxic and too liberal in a very short time (one year). It took me 2 and a half years to find another church. I was fortunate to be able to look at websites and with Covid, be able to watch Zoom services). This caused no church hopping until I found a church(s) I feel I could attend in person. God was amazing that He allowed me to do this "looking around", but he had a church in mind for me and when I got to that church website, I watched 3 services and also the Assistant Pastor's services and I knew this was God's choice for me. :) This is a year later and I am very content attending this church. God bless both of you. You both are faithful servants.

Enjoyed this and it gives hope for churches that have been all but abandoned by diocese because of the size of the congregation. The importance of Morning Prayer was mentioned. I fortunately found a church that does this on line. (We use the online ACNA daily office 2019) I have been attending for over a year now averaging about 5 days a week. First the small community of those attending and the friendships we have developed I believe keeps it going. More importantly having this daily service has increased my daily focus on God. I now understand why Thomas Cranmer meant for the daily offices to be said daily for the whole congregation. I have suggested to the clergy in the deanery, that I am in, to do the daily office online. Unfortunately they are not interested, they seem to view the daily office as a clergy thing.

Love the music at the start! Half way through and have to go to bed but wow, such honesty, and gracious wisdom from both of you. I'll have to share this with my pastor. Not all of it directly relevant because we use a Presbyterian system of governance but the underlying principles are spot on!

I once asked a missionaries couple what lessons we could learn that would apply to New England, which I consider as much of s mission field as most missionaries are sent to. The reply? "From the time we wake in the morning until we lay down our heads at night, we are seeking to build relationships. Because you need a very good relationship before anyone wi will be open to the message, 'You are a sinner, and unless you turn to God in repentance, the wages of sin is dearh.'"

England as a mission field? Wesley would approve!! think: 'How the West was Won' ... shoot from the stump of Jesse, Isa.11, olive tree never dies, just puts out new shoots ... 50min ... a great book I recommend, on stepping out in faith (& God makes the water firm underfoot as you go) ... 'Realities' by Basilea Schlink ...

Psychology is a humanist way to pigeon hole humans into "types". I've been in congregations where a new Priest has come in, pigeon holed people as having a certain personality and has not discouraged them from leaving. Not saying this applies to this situation but one must be careful. We don't have a Psychology 101 text book to guide us on how to interact with people, we have the Bible.
@juliebennett982

I'm a Psychologist who has followed Jesus since a conversion experience at 12 yrs. It's been my joy to have been in Private Practice for 36 yrs. Many Christian Pastors and Doctors have referred folk to me over the decades. Clients are free to share their grief, doubts, anxieties depression etc without being told that their "religion" is screwing them up. Early childhood trauma has often been experienced by them and it's been a delight to work with each to see them gain release from their pain and grief. Psychology is never THE answer....only Jesus is, but techniques and skills can help significantly.

@@juliebennett982 Thank you Julie. I agree, a trained and experienced Psychologist such as yourself can and are very helpful in aiding one through life problems. Clearly you have loved your work and no doubt it has been rewarding for both you and your clients. My concerns come about when Pastors, "team Leaders", managers etc start applying psychology to others and use that to justify their action or inaction towards that person. Yes, when a new Pastor comes to a Church many do leave but in my experience these brothers and sisters aren't even spoken to, rather they're just labelled as "don't like change" or similar. God bless.

Honestly don't know where I'm at with orthodox anglican theology bro. Super drawn to it but from a compassion POV just don't get it (yet?) re: LGBT stuff.
@davidrudd2215
@davidrudd2215 Жыл бұрын
Perhaps it's simply that, whilst we're all made in the image of God, the image of God is marred in all of us, whereby we are all susceptible to sin - falling short of God's best for us - in many ways. Sexual temptation in its many forms can be powerful, so it is not just 'LGBT stuff' which is the issue, it's falling short of what God calls us to in any area of sexuality - but 'LGBT stuff' which, according to God's word in the Scriptures is contrary to God's best for us, becomes a major issue when it is constantly pushed and promoted at every turn as something which of itself is wholesome and good and to be encouraged, when it is not. It becomes even more problematic when it is celebrated in the 'church', which is supposed to uphold God's word. Compassion yes, capitulation no. It's God's purpose to restore each of us in his image - and that is a work he would do in each of us, by grace, regardless of our sexuality.

@eshiestrik2756
@eshiestrik2756 Жыл бұрын
@@davidrudd2215What a great explanation. We are created in God's image and sin is falling short of God's glory which is falling short of God's image/character/being, so when we choose to be something other than being in God's image it is sin. We are literally choosing to live life as something less than God's best for us, regardless of how we choose to live our lives. "All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God." Romans 3:23 "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". Romans 6:23 But, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish (die spiritually) but will have Eternal Life." "He did not come into the world to condemn the world but that the world, through Him, might be saved." John 3:16,17 What does it mean to be saved? It is to be restored back to the Image, character, very being, that God created each one of us to be. In His Image, His Glory. Thank you Jesus! ❤❤❤ We need to remember that if we are a child of God, then we live IN Christ AND Christ LIVES IN us! To imagine behaving in such a way that will offend Christ, by using "Him" to engage in some kind of activity that is not in His Image, should give me pause as to whether I am truly in Christ and Christ in me! Colossians 1:9-29
