Penny we fans still love you. You were one of the most exciting players to watch in the 90's. You still dominated during the Jordan era, amongst great players: Jordan, Pippen, Ewing, Hill etcc...

Penny has nothing to prove. There is no doubt in my mind he would have been better than Kobe or Lebron, "if" he was healthy. Penny was the only player I've seen go toe to toe with Jordan when Jordan was in his prime. Not only was he great athleticly, but he was a very smart basketballer.

Okay people NEEDS to understand that injuries are beyond ones control. So for people to look down on him or others because of that I think that's bullshit. Give this man back his 2nd chance. He's fighting hard to come back and a team should see that. I hate this for him. I like his courage and strength. That's bullshit when people give up on you when you know deep inside that YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT!! I pray that he returns. -The Best to you Penny :)

Theres so much thats depressing about this interview. Heres a guy who was in his mid 30s at the time of the interview, who could have been one of the greatest guards of all time but injuries stopped him. And yet he truly believes he can still play in the NBA efficiently. Thats sad...because he was such an explosive player and you could just tell how much he loves the game of basketball.

@Domini478 Jordan himself said before the 96 Bulls-Magic Conference Finals series that the best way to beat Orlando was to shut down Penny. Because Shaq could only hurt you in the paint, Penny could hurt you as soon as the ball was in his hands. I still remember his buzzer beater from half court with 2 defenders on him. Swish!!!

You do realize Penny Hardaway is now 6 years older than when this video first uploaded right? Penny's career is over and was over years ago when this video first aired in late 05', early 06'. He was a great player...probably a future HOF player if his injuries didn't keep him away from the game. But he wouldn't be able to do the things he did 17 years ago...time can never be defeated..and that's for ANYONE...even Michael Jordan.

Also agree that the Magic were the better team in the 95 Finals. Nick Anderson bricked 4 straight three-throws & he only need 1 of them & the Magic win Game 1 & the entire series changes shape from there. Orlando couldn't overcome it though & Anderson was a headcase for the next 3 games.

i wouldn't say top 5 ever but top five pg ever isn't that ridiculous of a statement. if penny had never gotten hurt he would have def become a better shooter over the years just like jason kidd. his vision was phenomenal. he couldn't do it alone he needed another star i.e. shaq. kobe can't even do it alone nor lebron, so when ppl say "o well he didn't do shit after shaq left" that doesn't legitimize anything b/c after shaq left penny drew the double teams i.e. stats dropped

@cinnabar54610 жыл бұрын
Chris Page was experience that beat them. honestly Rudy T and brian hill arent good coaches so it wasnt a coaching issue. If shaq stayed till '99 at least they could have taken at least a ring and challenged the 98 bulls. Penny wouldn't have been injured cause he'd have less usage rate than he had when shaq left.

... well, he could have balled (he still did at times, in his first year in Orlando after Shaq left, before his first Microfracture surgery, and in his first year in Phoenix to some extent), but the question is what it would have meant. I don't think that he would have been a guy who really elevated an entire offense because Hardaway wasn't efficient enough as a playmaker (assists-to-turnover ratio of slightly under 2.00:1.00) or a scorer (he never shot .475 from the field after Shaq).

@Domini478 I was over the 95 Finals as soon as the buzzer sounded to signal the end of Game 4. To suggest I'm hung up on it when all I am trying to demonstrate is that the best team doesn't always win & how big a part momentum plays in any sport (in particular a 7 game series where 4 wins are needed). You're just struggling with the concept, simple as that.

Highest IQ since Bird and Magic? Top five ever? I'll tell you what, the hype that Hardaway received in his few years in the league led legions of people to become delusional about him. He was a very good player, but he never averaged more than 7.2 assists in a season, he was far from a great shooter (he never shot .475 from the field without Shaquille O'Neal), and his teams' offense was always mediocre or bad after Shaq left.

@Domini478 That's where ur wrong. They couldn't shut down Shaq. As for the Finals, I'll say it again because you clearly lack the intelligence to grasp the concept of momentum. 1 foul shot & it's 1-0 Orlando & their confidence goes up & the momentum swings in their favour. Game 2 the crowd gets more into it knowing that a win will see the side travel with a 2-0 lead & regardless of results, will be back in Orlando for another game. The loss killed their confidence. Hence the sweep.

So be happy with the fact that you'll never see him ever again in the NBA and go watch LeBron videos instead of pick at anybody who liked him.
