Sagan's 1st World Champs win in 2015 was probably the most emotional I have ever been to see someone win a sports event. So many 2nd places and then BOOM, world champ! My favorite cyclist to date. Chapeau Peter. A true LEGEND!

What an interview. That’s the most I’ve seen Peter speak in one sitting, ever! Such a legend of the sport. Made cycling so enjoyable for me and my family.

I can see his tears, I started to love cycling because of him back in 2015 world championships. End of sagan era and all legendary cyclists in his era like cavs and others. Good luck on your future success my idol
@chesterthomas5093 Жыл бұрын
I was at the 2015 worlds and saw his win from about the 400m line. I was already a fan, but watching that performance was just incredible. Despite his recent lack of form, he is a champion and will be sorely missed. It will be fun and poignant to watch his final road season.
@RoquetteAttaquer Жыл бұрын
@@chesterthomas5093 out performs because he already aged, now new fresh talented generations like tadej, remco, MVDP, WVA will dominate the new era of cycling. For sagan this is the time for him to focus on his family and son. World tour is crazy when you have to sacrifice leaving family, for me He wins everything already.

I moved to France in 2015, and I lived in Lille. I will never forget the moment you passed by me at Paris-Roubaix. That look... Those eyes, purely focused. Precision and handling on cobbles that is unprecedented. Regular people cannot be tat precise at 4 km/h, let alone at 40. And the physique of a Greek statue, with every fiber under tension. Probably 3 hours of waiting to see not only Sagan, but all of them, for about 10 seconds or less. Thanks for the memories and thank you for giving motivation to thousands of people like me who enjoy cycling when it's beautiful and when it's nothing but misery and suffering. You are right, the word has changed since 2010. It's unrecognizable today. There was a castle-like bridge in Tournai. It stood there for centuries. God knows how many times I rode to it, maybe 100 times. And it was demolished few years ago. It stood there, blocking the progress, I guess. So it was destroyed. 2020's mark the beginning of the Dark Age 2.0

Wow, that time seems to have gone so quickly. What a hero. When he burst on the scene like the Hulk and could do and win anything. Just rode away from others. Always with a smile and humour too. Proper legend. You finish on your own terms Peter, you’ve given us more than enough. Can’t wait to see him on the mountain bike again.

😭🥲Ah mixed emotions! We were just saying how much we missed watching Peter ride. But he has given us so much over the years, and we are grateful for the dynamic zesty sass he brought to the road. At least we have hours of footage to go back and watch. My favorite "win" was actually not a win, but when the Bora team simply bore down at the Tour and rode everyone else off the back so that Peter could win the sprint that stage. He didn't, thanks to a dropped chain, but he rode back into the green jersey! Amazing, powerful, passionate tactics. Thrilling to watch. He will be missed. 🥰

Peter seems lighter in spirit since making this announcement. He deserves to have some of HIMSELF for himself and his son and family. His life has been so cut up with sponsors, training, travel, team business, racing, fans....all obiligations he has honored long enough and he deserves his time away from the rat-race of Pro cycling. He has build quite an industry from his skill on his bike and has paid dearly for it. Now....well, 2024, is HIS time.Thank you Peter for all you have shared, and given to the fandom of this world of cycling for the past 13-14 years..(or since you were 9 ). Blessings and continued strong, good health, champion! 💖

Sagan is one of the greater personalities and talents in cycling in the last decade. It will be sad to see him leave. 😥 He is probably too easy going and naturally gifted to be accepted and respected amongst the newer Elite riders now and maybe a bit stubborn with the team bosses. I can imagine he had been deemed a non team player and to individualistic for the Elite scene now.
