It’s interesting that famous British actor Sir Alec Guinness met James Dean just weeks before his accident . He said he got a terrible feeling of doom and death when James showed off his brand new Porsche Spyder sports car. It was only meant to be an interim car, James was actually looking to buy a new British Sports racer, a Lotus from Colin Chapmans new company. I believe James passenger, the German mechanic, never got over the death crash. He was riddled with survivors guilt, his life went from multiple Le Mans class winning mechanic in the early 50s to reckless alcoholic, attempted wife murderer, with chronic mental problems and suicidal tendencies.

This is incorrect 4:48. Dean was driving as evidenced by his left foot being crushed and stuck between the clutch and brake pedal.

Like thousands of other car accidents it was just a tragic situation. James Dean did not have a death wish, the car was not cursed, and it was not inevitable. It was just unfortunate timing that both cars hit that dangerous intersection at the same time, that James Dean was in a vehicle that did not offer must protection from a heavier vehicle and that the other driver was driving carelessly in that he crossed into James Dean's lane of travel, without making proper observations causing the accident.

James Dean was warned about driving to the race. Turnupseed should have been more careful though.

He was definitely the driver. He got his foot caught between the clutch and brake. If he didn't get caught, he might have been thrown clear like the mechanic was.

I think dean was way smarter than most give him credit for...he could see his death coming..he didn't know when or how but he kept mentioning it to people.i think he was very attuned to the spiritual world and could see his end coming.i bet if anyone could exist (in some form or another) after death...it might be him.

This is the end my only friend the end. The song and video brings tears to my eyes. I've got this love for Dean. He was a great actor who became one of the greatest actors of all time. I've been to Fairmount to visit his grave and pay my respects. The two owners of the museum are really nice guys. Live fast die young. 1931- legends never die.

Having the 'right of way' does not mean you can come the other way at 70 mph which is what Dean very likely was doing, no doubt with his stupid cigarette carefully placed in the corner of his mouth because, you see, he was acting cool.... The price he paid was his life and almost killed the driver of the other car.

It's interesting that these 2 men were so convinced that James was NOT driving that they testified under oath stating the same thing. If there was a witness to them stopping at Blackwell's Corner gas station that would have helped. I know the mechanic survived but I don't think he would have lied about it but I don't know. Its all so sad and disappointing.

According to Rolf Wütherich, James Dean was a very well-behaved driver on the road. The speeding ticket was misreported and exaggerated, because Dean was fined for going just 5 mph over the speed limit. Dean had the right of way, so he was innocent. There's always got to be that conspiracy to go against truth so to confuse people... Just think about it... Jimmy's on his way to race HIS NEW SPYDER & BREAK IN THE NEW MOTOR: Now can anyone imagine Jimmy wanting or letting someone else drive his car???? I'm gonna vote for HELL NO! The reason this guy talking is saying the mechanic was driving is bc Jimmy was hanging halfway out on the passenger side - only bc of the serious impact & direction of hit, etc.... Lots of scientific equations fall into play as to why Jimmy was stuck upper body on passenger side! His feet & legs did get crushed under his clutch, motor, door, & well most of his car... The terrible fact too, about this crash is Jimmy's face took the impact of that turnipseed dude's car... Because of how (he) tried to swing back into his lane after his left hand turn was halfway into completion when he saw Jimmy, Jimmy was hit, face first, by that HUGE. HEAVY, OLD BOMB OF A CAR TWICE THE SIZE & WEIGHT OF JD'S SPYDER... AND THE WAY THE HEADLINES WERE READING "JAMES DEAN CRASHED... " AS IF HE, JD, WAS GUILTY OF THE WHOLE DAMN THING! Yes, JD was hauling ass, he didn't have on his headlights (which wasn't done in the old days like today).... But he sure didn't pull out in front of someone or cause this crash... JD's car offered ZERO protection! It was nearly the size of a toy car! Too bad he didn't just pull it on that trailer.... Too bad that motor needed broken in... Too bad Jimmy got outta bed that day. He was the coolest of cool without even trying. Just like Elvis reeled Rock N Roll into the world, JD reeled in cool. Actually, they BOTH were COOL AS F, ADMIRABLE within their own hearts & thoughts, both were givers, BOTH were heartbroken over the deaths of their moms & carried it in their souls & personas till their end, and they BOTH loved animals, hard work, being a loner, were misunderstood by nearly all they encountered yet were loved, they BOTH loved Race Cars & Motorcycles & women, they were shy, were beautiful physically in the eyes of men & women, and they BOTH "DID IT MY WAY!!" ELVIS lived to be 42, JIMMY 24. THEY BOTH LIVED LIFE TO THE FULLEST EVERY SINGLE DAY & NOT ONE DAY WASTED. THEY BOTH BELIEVED IN GOD & GAVE GOD THEIR ALL; FINDING THEIR PURPOSE.... NO WONDER THEY'RE LEGENDS. NO WONDER THEY LIVE ON & ON, FOREVER.... NO WONDER! THEY BOTH MADE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE! 💗💕💓💔

The Porsche was caved in so bad that James Dean was pushed to where the passenger was supposed to be. However, one of James Dean's feet was stuck under the brake and clutch pedals. The passenger was thrown out of the car. That's why it appeared that James Dean wasn't driving.

@@JeMone Ironic, isn't it?...If Dean was not speeding, and given a ticket...then he would NOT have even been in that accident...he would have driven past that area where he did die, before that poor goofball Donald Turnupseed turned in front of Dean!...Donald did have minor injuries, and had to thumb a ride to his home after the accident. He never would give an interview, and died at age 64 from Lung Cancer. Fate is a cold, uncontrolled thing in this world we live in. But I can tell you this, I have been a cautious, non-speeding driver for 60 years now...and my conservative driving skills have saved me from being in potentially fatal car accidents, a few times! Intersections are always unpredictable, with some idiots running red lights, or not stopping at STOP signs. Never start out quickly on a green light..some A-hole might just be running the light, and could kill you. I have seen a few "almost did happen" situations like that, in my life. Of course, you can be totally innocent, sitting at a red light, and have some drunk bonehead plow into you from behind. That situation has happened to me, twice!...But somehow, I was not hurt seriously. Like I said, FATE is something one cannot totally avoid, but being a safe driver increases your odds of surviving on the road. James Dean got that right!
