It's great to see Anna being so in awe of her GM mother ❤.

When not playing in the same tournament together, mother and daughter will commentate each other’s classical matches for Anna Cramling’s channel. Both of them get faaar more stressed for each other than they get for their own games. It’s very sweet. It is fearsome getting the insight into Pia’s mind when she commentates. She will talk non stop for 5 hours concentrating only on the game. In between every real move made on the board she starts playing the theoretical games forward from every possible move on the board. If Anna takes half an hour to move Pia will calculate 20 moves ahead for each of the pieces that can move on the board. It is very funny. Pia will assume the opponent will always make the best move, while Anna, not so much. Going back to the real position, Pia of course chooses the best move on the board and then rates Anna’s chances of finding it. If Anna finds a move Pia did not expect her to find, she gets SO excited and loud. Exclaiming over and over. Sometimes Anna just blunders so badly, Pia makes this little disappointed noise. It’s one of the cutest noises on Earth. So I am split between being horrified for Anna and Pia, and laughing and gleeful that Pia made “*the noise*”. Apparently it’s the noise of disappointed Northern European mothers everywhere.

Pia Cramling, Annas mom, is a legend in the chess world. This is why Anna gets attention, plus she has a youtube channel herself.
