Read his book years ago - recommended to me at reunion. I was a med-evac corpsman with MAG-39 (across the road from 3rd RECON). We did emergency extracts for them when things got hot

Read his book in High School. I became a Force Recon Marine myself and served in 3rd Force some 20 years after Doc Norton left.

I met Doc Norton when I was at The Citadel, he was one real sob. Friends, don't meet your heroes.

Dude was cherry, didn’t do any time with the grunts and goes out with a team with zero experience? That had to be nerve racking for the guys. To help your education, they would attend ARS(no longer around) or BRC just like everyone in recon, force would require dive school(plus dive med as a SARC) and jump with H2O jumps in modern day.
