Jennifer was a Jehovah's Witness for over 20 years and is speaking out against the organization after leaving. Her focus is on women’s experiences and healing after leaving high control patriarchal religion. We will be discussing psychedelics as well.

The JWs have their own translation which intentionally switches the names for Jesus to Jehovah in the Epistles. Look at any other English translation other than the JW one and you see that Jesus is literally called God several times. Look at the process of translating the Koine Greek in NT. The divinity of Christ is explicit all over the place. So I would take JW refutations of the Trinity with a grain of salt..

When the NT is describing Jesus as God, JW changed it to be about "Jehovah".
@tool1gt

@@bandygamy5898 I disagree. You may not have done your research well enough to make such a statement. It is a well-established fact that Jehovah is God's name in both the Old and New Testament. Wherever you see the words LORD and GOD in uppercase, that is where the name YHWH appears in the original texts. The Tetragrammaton appears over 6000 times in the Hebrew scriptures alone, more than any other name (although no one knows the correct pronunciation, Jehovah/Yahovah/Yehovah). Don't take my word for it, feel free to google and consult non-JW sources. What Jehovah's Witnesses attempted to do was to restore the name by replacing LORD and GOD with Jehovah in their translation. Many translations have retained LORD and GOD in uppercase, others not. Oh and I don't ever use their translation when putting forward any arguments against the concept of the Trinity ✌

@Esben M I realize for the voice that it's a old lady. It's funny that she compared Jehovah witnesses with the Noah. She said:" Everybody mocked Noah, but nobody listened to them. But look what happened with them". I need to say to her that I would never convert because of the blood transfusion. My mom had leukemia and I almost lost her. 3 blood transfusions were very important in her recovery.

@Patricia: If you are not interested then just politely say so. If you show interest and consent for this person to contact you, well of course they will call back. You consented by giving this person your number. JW are well known for carrying out the Great Commission. They continue to reach out to their communities at this difficult time. During pandemic JWs are not calling at people’s homes. So no one should be getting a home visit from a JW unless it is to render some aid to a person in urgent need.

@@allahisoneministry83 I know it's true, which is it why it might be a bit perplexing for people who read the title "Not the Weaker Vessel" because it seems like a bit of fact/science denial. But as Jennifer said above, she's applied her own additional interpretation of the term, and that's what she's arguing against when she says women are "not the weaker vessel". I'm not exactly sure, but I think "strawman" is the correct name for that kind of argument since that exact phrase actually isn't referring to morality at all.

There is some thing mentioned by one person osho on christianity---> What exists in the name of Christianity I have always called Crossianity. It is the worship of the cross, not of Christ. It is fear of death, not love of life. Just take a few things out of the life of Jesus and Christianity disappears. If he is not crucified can there be a Christianity? Most Muslims worldwide take the daily prayers seriously. Maybe the liberal Western ones don’t but there’s no confusion in Islam about the prayers being unquestionably compulsory. No discussion. No debate. It’s crystal clear. Anyone claiming to be a Muslim but not doing the prayers is knowingly committing grave sins.

There is lots to complain about. Most JWs are baptized as kids, when they're not in a position to decide if they want to be in that religion for their whole life. Maybe they do it to please their parents. If they change their outlook on life, their own parents have to stop association with them. How is that harmless and a valid way to structure a society?

@@mittwochxiv.9770 Dear friends you are absolutely right in your case but here is my story and thousands of others. I have three daughters 21, 19 and 10 and the only the baptized is the one who is 19 with her own choice. We never told her to get baptize and never going to force the other two to get baptize until they have their own conviction to do so. Same went to me as I am not a born one of Jehovah's Witness. Though I respect personal choice about life style and beliefs but as a parent it should concern me something we believe is going to harm our children. I am never gonna leave my kids no matter what choice they make but yes I do not have to start following or liking if they chose something goes against our beliefs. Every association or class on this earth has some set of rules approved and consent by the group and so do have Jehovah's witnesses what is wrong with it. Jehovah's Witnesses never threaten or kill their children or siblings if they chose some other life style.

@@John-qo6fs I have never been a Jehovas Wittness, I have relatives in the organization. But even if I knew nobody from that background, I would find the act of breaking off communication with your family member after they left the religion highly questionable. There are cases when I'd consider it appalling, if the kid got baptized quite young, but even if it was a conscious decision, regardless of age I don't think it is normal. I would not compare such a thing with murder of apostates, but comparing it to distancing yourself for personal reasons is not fitting either. It is mandated after all. Does not matter who does it - any group mandating the breaking off of all contact with a family member for any reason has lost respect with me.

It is simply an exageration which I think is unfair. You know in our personal life we sometime do not talk with a friend, husband, wife or father for some reason. Originally I am from Pakistan and now living in USA and I do not see any problem. My parents, brother and sisters are not Jehovah's witnesses and I have been supporting them emotionally and financially in every matter and never forced them to join me by changing their beliefs and they are so happy with me and so I am.
