True. JWs hate to loose control. My father is an elder and the only and worse argument we ever had was when he knew he lost control of me. He and the organization had always been able to control, mind control; but when I disagreed and walked out, my father actually threw a tantrum. It was a really eye opener and gave me the final push.

Kevin, Dubtown is seriously prob my favorite thing to watch on youtube right now. and i've never been a JW, i've never been religious at all i just have an interest in religion (plus I'm literally being stalked by JW's). Dubtown is so charming n funny, I would love to do a guest voice on an episode (I'm US but can do a UK accent), how you script each episode is amazing. Love this interview. Love the skeleton that everyone looks past as a spiritually dead disfellowshipped person. My late husband was one of those. People would come over to make a fuss of our new baby and to welcome me and would ignore him, which is why I was opposed when he was alive for a while. You could make a comparison with a fader in another video, as one that some people can see and some can't. Another type would be an 'on the fence' person like I was for a long time after he died, finally getting knocked off the fence by a hypocritical elder, with a few people daring to peer over the fence onto the worldly side, and see what was going on and others warning them to be careful of their associations in case it weakened their faith. Some sisters were genuinely asking if I was OK, or gossipy ones were trying to find out if there was a sin involved like 'being seen at an ice cream van in the park with a man on my own' (my late husband's brother in fact who had come to visit the children and was buying us ice creams). I just got this idea of one of those wolves approaching the 'on the fence' person and knocking them over and the 'fading' person being seen by some and not others.

Great points Kevin made about how "appointed" ones are treated, at least by some in the JW congregation, when you either "step down" from being an elder or MS or get "deleted" from the "positions". The number of dirty looks and subsequent quasi-shunning that occurs is amazing. Other elders & mini servants often no longer have time for you and the rest of the flock/rank & file and sisters walk on eggshells because of the paranoia and cognitive dissonance assuming you did something "bad" to get deleted or step down. Also excellent point about Revelation 5:10! I hadn't even realized that scripture change myself as it just adds to the fallaciousness of watchtower and their self-righteous, condescending mindset of superiority just by the change of one word changing the entire meaning. That "Stay Alive 'Till '75" talk was given here in Sheboygan, Wisconsin north of Milwaukee by District Overseer Charles Si-NUT-ko in 1968 to stir people up with a BITE model complex for the seven years. For the organization to absolve itself trying to wash hands of responsibility was disingenuous at the 2017 Convention. I know it was geared toward 1975 by the way the couples in the video were dressed but in my mind it applied with equal or greater force to the society's "Generation of 1914 will not pass away" teaching they also washed their hands of and of which so many of us were in part influenced by that and came into the Borg in the 1990s partly based on this threat/false promise. Good advice for "Faders" like myself also as I just had a two-on-one ambush call/visit last Wednesday as these Wisconsin elders scope out why I'm informing other JW's about the child sexual abuse problem and accompanying mainstream news stories they want to bury their heads in the sand about labeling it all as "demonic propaganda". Wow John, just wow. So the ARC or ICSA or here in the U.S. they won't even talk about their own JW internal sexual abuse database or their own in-house apostate literature library they keep or the stock investments in companies we'd get disfellowshipped for working at or buying/consuming products from. These JW corporate muckety-mucks cannot answer ANY of those questions. They're only interested now in getting you to sign your life away for their JW Publisher ID database for even MORE control! Then they brag about the JW.Org website like it's God's gift to mankind and cry persecution in Russia, Eritrea and other foreign lands they're banned in, yet when you even go to the Legal Developments Subsection of their website there is NOTHING about the ARC, ICSA, the $66 Million Canadian Class-Action Sexual Abuse Lawsuit, the U.S. internal database, the San Diego, CA settlement on the Padron & Lopez cases or the upcoming September case in Montana, USA of Nunez vs. Watchtower. It's just disgusting and despicable and makes my blood boil. We lost giant chunks of our lives to a corporate publishing organization that sold itself to us with claims of honesty and transparency and they're doing the exact opposite. This is why I write long comments with my writer's block and journalistic mindset. We have consciences and moral compasses. There's just so much frustration and seething righteous indignation because these clowns cannot acknowledge a problem to confess their own shortcomings, dishonesties and lies, let alone offer any apology for misleading millions of people turning their lives upside down. Maybe I'll video a KZbin one day with someone for my story as uncomfortable as I am about it.

I like the how real the topics are and how the feel is SO JW. At the same time showing how crazy the doctrine is. It is funny too. The quotes from the real books and magazines and letters are included. Even clips from audio and video and sometimes both are shown. The elders being wolves, play on how they are seen by people that have been there and done that. The kids and their problems also. Just all are so spot-on!! I asked him how long they took him to do, and learned that he put a lot of time and effort into doing them. I hope Kevin McFree heals also from doing the videos!! Hugs Kevin McFree!! I like the other Lego channel too. It is such an unique way of teaching and helping others heal from the damage the Org causes. I hope he makes a lot more of them as time goes on. WT will never stop providing material!! Lol Using Legos makes it appeal to people of all ages!! Thanks for interviewing this Dubtown creator!

Hi. I've been watching your videos for some time now and I always love your interviews. I'm PIMO as they say. I was around 5 when my parents started studying, got baptized at 9, started questioning things at around 14 and completely stopped believing at around 17. I'm 18 now but I can't become independent because rent in California is crazy and I'm not done with school yet therefore I'm stuck here. An elder came by today because he heard I was questioning stuff. My parents probably said something to the elders at one point. And I got a recording of the whole thing. It's all in Spanish because I go to a Spanish congregation. I don't have the software to edit out my name or change the sound of our voices (I'm paranoid of getting in trouble) but if for some reason you're interested in it, I can send it over. Its almost 2 hrs long though and pretty basic stuff. I just got it to research a way to give better responses because I go blank when trying to reason with people.

Baptized *INTO THE ORGANIZATION* . When you're baptized into Christ, there's no fear of being shunned or cast out for messing up. 1John 1:9 The WT doesn't teach GOD'S forgiveness. You can only HOPE the elders don't show you the door for whatever. How Tragic that some of them have done FAR, *FAR* worse than what they DF people for. Excellent advice on how to 'fade' . #ExJwCriticalThinker gives the same advice. Build a social network OUTSIDE the organization. Friends at school at work. Online. Neighbors. It won't make the loss of jw friends and family any easier, but it will give the former jw SOMEONE to talk to and lean on.

I wish I had a "Kevin" to listen to 15 years ago when all hell broke loose in my JW world! I know I'm late to this video (and Dubtown) but have only just stumbled across them after being disfellowshipped (in a blaze of glory) all those years ago, I didn't have these types of videos for support back then and really did have to fend for myself in the big wide world, at 32 it certainly wasn't easy! I imagine these types of videos and listening to you guys would make the world of difference to someone leaving or being disfellowshipped today. So thank you!
